During the company's earnings call, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly noted that the Apple Watch was seeing strong demand at the retailer, both in stores and online. While Best Buy had originally planned to sell the watch in 300 of its stores by the end of the year, Joly now says that they want to sell the device at all Best Buy locations by the end of September.
"Demand for Apple Watch has been so strong in the stores and online," Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly told Wall Street analysts on a conference call. The retailer expects to be selling the device, which hit the market in June, at all of its 1,050 big-box stores by the end of September, he added
While initially only available from Apple, first online in April, then in Apple Retail Stores in June, the Apple Watch made its way to Best Buy earlier this month.
In addition to expanding availability of the Apple Watch, Best Buy is in the midst of a redesign of its Apple mini-stores that reside in many of the company's retail locations. The revamp is planned for 740 stores in total, with the work already complete in 350 locations. In line with earlier reports, the retailer will also start selling AppleCare+ later this quarter, and 50 Best Buy stores will also test out being authorized service providers at some point soon.
