Blizzard releases Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion

If you pre-purchased it then you probably already know, but today is release day for the long-awaited expansion pack to Blizzard's popular dungeon crawl action game Diablo III, Reaper of Souls.

Reaper of Souls adds a new champion to the mix: the Crusader, a holy warrior trained to wield sacred power against the forces of darkness. The game expands play with a new act that brings you to the city of Westmarch and on towards a battle to the death with Malthael, the fallen Archangel of Wisdom.

What's more. Reaper of Souls raises the level cap to 70; adds a new game mode - Adventure - that gives you the ability to go anywhere and slay anything that crosses your path; employs random objectives called Bounties; adds Nephalem Rifts, completely randomized dungeons that offer endless replayability; and The Mystic, a new artisan that provides you with custom loot options.

Reaper of Souls is available in Standard Edition available online and in stores for $39.99, or a Digital Deluxe Edition that adds a heap of bonuses like special helm and weapon recipes, a minion, three additional character slots, and more.

As silly as it may be, every time I see Diablo-something on iMore--there's a moment, in between seeing the thumbnail and reading the title, that gets me excited on the possibility that blizzard surprised everyone and released something on iOS.

Oh, I would be all over a Blizzard ARPG on the iPad...

Peter Cohen says:

Well, they won't have surprised everyone. They've announced plans to bring Hearthstone, their recently-released collectible card strategy game, to the iPad.
