Exiles is a fresh sci-fi role-playing game from Crescent Moon games that we got to check out at GDC 2014. For those that have put time into the well-known Avalon series, you'll already be familiar with the kind of graphics to expect here, though the giant robot with the missile launcher may contrast to memories of elves and fireballs.
We sat down with the guys from Cipher Prime at GDC 2014 to take a look at their absolutely insane pharmaceutical-themed puzzle game called Intake. Players have to tap on pills as they fall to burst them before they hit the ground.

Gear Jack: Black Hole is an upcoming endless runner we got to check out at GDC 2014. In this Crescent Moon title, we take control of an adorable little robot and control his leaps so he doesn't get maimed by the various dangers peppered throughout the level. While the character is usually plowing onwards at breakneck speeds, you've got to make sure he slows things down and tiptoes when traversing the lairs of especially bad nasties.
One of the less conventional games we saw at GDC 2014 was The Deer God from Crescent Moon Games. In it you lead a poor life as a hunter, and as the laws of karma dictate, you're zapped into the body of a deer until you find a way to appease the dreaded and mysterious Deer God.
2-Bit Cowboy is an absolutely charming platforming game with original Game Boy aesthetics and a plethora of fetch quests to enjoy. Crescent Moon Games showed us the ropes at GDC 2014, and it's easy to see how this game could become habit-forming. Players leap, swim, and dash their way through a monochromatic western paradise and pick up odd jobs.
On top of looking at Frontline Commando 2 at GDC 2014, we checked out another game from Glu that's launching this week called Pirates of Everseas. On the surface, it's a casual city building game where you collect coins from houses and resources from farms on your own little tropical island.
We met up with the folks from Glu at GDC 2014 to talk about their recent release, Frontline Commando 2. The original was a fantastic finger-friendly shooter where players dove between bits of cover and strategically pop their heads out to take out aggressors, and for the sequel they've added a whole bunch of new features. This time you're not alone, and have a wide range of AI allies that you can call in for supportive fire. There's also a competitive PVP mode where players can take the fight online. As usual, there's a massive armory of weapons and equipment to purchase and customize as you progress through the campaign, but the graphics on everything have been seriously amped up compared to the original.
