iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3: A history in pictures

The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are the latest in a line of Apple tablets that stretch back to the original, introduced by Steve Jobs in January of 2010. Since then they've gotten lighter, thinner, narrower, and even smaller. The port has changed. The displays have gone Retina. The data speeds have gotten faster and faster. They've gone gold.

It's only when you see them all laid out or stacked before you that you can really appreciate the evolution of the iPad. When you see them like this...

A macro look at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in micro-fine detail

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are brand new takes on Apple's iconic design. They're bigger, thinner, and their edges are rounded. The camera rises now from the casing even as the screen glides seamlessly into the edge. And the screens have gone from Retina to Retina HD to even denser Retina HD. Combined, how much of a difference does all this make? To find out I grabbed a Canon 5D Mark III and an EF 100mm F2.8 L IS USM Macro lens, and I shot the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 alongside last year's iPhone 5s at every angle. Enjoy!

From iPhone to iPhone 6 Plus - In pictures!

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are here, and they build on the design foundation Apple has laid since the original shipped in 2007. From then, to the rounded plastic iPhone 3 and iPhone 3GS, to the glass backed iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, to the taller unibody iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, to the bigger, rounder, thinner models shipped this year, here's how they all look stacked together. Enjoy!

Retina iPad mini: Silver vs. space gray gallery

While the new Retina iPad mini certainly looks a lot like last year's original, Apple has switched out the old, scratch and chip-prone slate gray color for an all new, all-the-more resilient, space gray finish. It also matches the space gray options for the iPhone 5s and iPad Air, if that sort of uniformity matters to you. The faceplates, white vs. black are obviously the most striking differences, and those haven't changed, but if you're still trying to make up your mind, wondering how different silver is from space, or space from slate on the new iPad mini with Retina display, here's gallery.

iPad Air photo gallery: Silver and Space Gray!

The iPad Air is Apple's latest and greatest full sized tablet offering. It comes equipped with an Apple A7 processor and weighs in at only a pound, making it ultra light and responsive. We'll have more on performance in our full review but for now, if you're undecided on what color iPad Air you'd like and want to see both models side by side as well as how it stacks up to other iPad models, follow along and check out our image gallery!

iPad Air: Design evolution

The iPad Air is an amazing piece of design and engineering. What was first introduced in 2010 as a 0.5-inch, 1.5lbs post-PC revolution has been steadily transformed into a 0.29-inch, 1lbs damn-near MacBook Air-level revelation. Packing the power of an Apple A7 into something barely any bigger than the 9.7-inch screen it encases is impressive enough by itself, but when you see and feel it next to what's come before, the difference of three years and half-a-pound is enormous.

iPhone 5c internals and Apple A6 gallery

We've already given you a look at the inside of the iPhone 5s and the A7 chipset so we figured we'd give them iPhone 5c the same treatment. For the most part, a lot of the components are the same as the iPhone 5c's predecessor, the iPhone 5. However, there are some subtle differences on both the inside and on the logic board itself. Let's take a closer look!

Can't get the color iPhone 5s you want? There's an aftermarket for that!

One of the overriding issues from iPhone 5s launch day was the apparent lack of supply on the gold model. Everyone seemed to want one, few actually managed it – like Mobile Nations' own Kevin Michaluk. Apple did new colors this year for the first time, but while the Space Gray was plentiful, gold was not. But what about red? Or blue? Green, perhaps? If you know where to look, you can find the iPhone 5s color of your dreams – yes, even a gold one. What we have here is one of the very first examples anywhere in the world of a customized iPhone 5s, in a gorgeous and very striking red on black combination.

Hands on with the Apple iPhone 5c dock

Apple didn't just release 2 new phones this past week, it also released a bunch of official accessories to go with them. Apple skipped a generation with the iPhone 5 with regards to offering up a dock, but with the release of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c they're back. What we've got here is the iPhone 5c dock, that doubles up and will also cater quite nicely for the iPhone 5/5s.
