Ad hoc 10: Tombstone

Don, Matt, Guy, and Rene skin Tombstone and see what happens. That’s right, we’re throwing down on Wyatt and the Earp brothers, Doc Holiday and the Cowboys, the shoot out at the O.K Corral, and the vendetta that followed.

Ad hoc is our movie and entertainment show and this episode we're talking everything from Kevin Jarre’s enormous script to George P. Cosmatos’ alleged ghost direction for Kurt Russell to the themes of friendship shot throughout. With a stacked cast and absolutely killer dialog, was it a hell of a western-meets-action movie blend, or was it not no daisy at all? Find out!

iTunes vs. Ultraviolet: Are Apple-loving Veronica Mars fans entitled to their service of choice, or just entitled?

The Kickstarter-funded Veronica Mars movie landed not only in theaters, but on Ultraviolet digital streaming and on iTunes yesterday. For a Hollywood movie from a studio like Warner Brothers, that's... transcendent. But as much as it might have presaged a new era in entertainment, it also highlighted some massive ongoing problems. Mainly, the digital downloads offered to backers turned out not to be the iTunes codes some wanted but Ultraviolet streams instead. That caused a lot of confusion and more than a little anger.

Veronica Mars movie now live on iTunes!

It's not normal that a movie goes live on iTunes the same day it hits movie theaters but then Rob Thomas' Veronica Mars isn't exactly your normal movie. Not only does it reunite the cast of the original TV show, including Kristen Bell (House of Lies) but it received its backing on Kickstarter, the popular crowd-funding platform. Veronica Mars, if you're not familiar with it, was delightful — Buffy sans slayers. It lasted two and half seasons before it was cancelled and the movie's been a longtime coming. I backed the Kickstarter, bought tickets to the premier last night, and am download the digital version now. If you've been waiting for it as well, it's time to bring it on!
