Are you going to jailbreak your iOS 5.1.1 iPhone, iPod touch or iPad?
We're keeping this one really simple, iMore Nation -- Absinthe 2.0 was released this morning and it
If the iPhone goes 16:9, how should Apple use the extra 117 pixels?Apple may or may not have decided to go to a 4-inch screen in the iPhone 5 (or whatever they end up calling it), and they may or may not have decided to do it by going to a 1136 x 640 pixel, 16:9 aspect ratio, but let's just assume for the sake of this poll that they have and they will -- how do you want them to get there?
If Apple goes to a 4-inch iPhone, how should they do it?While it seems increasingly likely Apple will be going with a bigger, close to 4-inch iPhone 5 screen,
How do you use Gmail on iOS?So how do you access your Gmail on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad? Do you use the built-in iOS Mail app? Using
Apple released iOS 5.1.1 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad so I'm wondering -- have you updated yet?
Apple released iOS 5.1.1 a couple of days ago, and it included numerous bug fixes and performance improvements, so I have to ask -- how's your battery life? How's your performance? If you were having issues before, did iOS 5.1.1 fix any of them? Did it introduce any new ones? Battery life can be tricky. There are background tasks, push services, location services and features that make our lives better or more interesting and yet put a constant strain on our battery. There are apps that do fantastic things but for some reason can't be kept active or they drain power while we're watching.
We'll keep this one short but sweet -- Does the Home screen need updating in iOS 6? Rene laid out a lot of the pros and cons in his iOS 6 Home screen article a couple of days ago, and we discussed it in depth on the iPhone & iPad Live podcast last night. Hundreds of millions of users already know how to use the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad Home screen, and that's a huge barrier to change. Maybe not to geeks, but certainly to mainstream users.
At Macworld 2007 Steve Jobs pulled the original iPhone from his pocket, held it up high above the stage, and showed off the app launcher-based Home screen... that's pretty much remained the same ever since.
That's not entirely true, of course. Apple quickly added the ability to create WebClip icons for websites, and to re-arrange and delete them. With iOS 2 (iPhone OS 2) they added native apps to that mix. They increased the number of Home pages. They added Spotlight. They added wallpaper. With iOS 4 they layered in the multitasking fast app switcher. They layered in folders. The iPad, and the iPad alone, got landscape Home screen support. With iOS 5 they layered in Notification Center and Siri.
Is it time for something more?
How much are you using Siri? It's been six months since Apple released the iPhone 4S and that means it's been six months since Apple launched Siri, their virtual
Last week Apple debuted two new iPhone 4S commercials, once again highlighting the still-in-beta Siri, but this time using celebrities Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel to do the demos (does Santa count as the first celebrity?). Apple rarely uses celebrities in their advertising, so maybe this is the beginning of something new and exciting? Could there be more celebrity Siri spots in the future? And if so, who would you like to see?
