Jobs didn't go off on the earnings call because he was flabbergasted at what his competitors are doing with products. He went off because he's flat out scared of the competition. In the past, he dismissed the competition by saying "We're not worried about so-and-so". Now he goes off on a tirade - on an earnings release about the competition. He's running scared!
