ZTE Peel coming to Sprint November 14th for $79.99

ZTE Peel for Sprint

The ZTE Peel is launching on Sprint's Now Network on November 14th, priced at $79.99 and comes with a 1gb data allotment for $30 per month. The Peel allows your iPod touch to connect to Sprint's data network via WiFi. BGR reports:

On Friday, we told you about a rumor we were hearing surrounding the release-date and pricing for Sprint’s ZTE Peel; the iPod touch case that provides 3G internet access. Today, we’ve got cold hard evidence to confirm our previous scoop.

Something curious we noticed was how little data you'd actually be getting for $30 -- at just 1gb with $.05 per megabyte overage charges -- because when you figure in that you can have up to 2 connected devices and VoIP ability, you'll most likely find that limit being met very quickly if you aren't monitoring your usage. At least it's month-to-month.

Something else we thought funny was that this doesn't support the latest 4th generation iPod Touch. Curious, indeed.

Any readers planning on shelling out that kind of cash just to ensure your iPod Touch has a constant connection? Let us know in the comments below!

Lol. My 30$ unlimited vs 30$ 1gb. Wow. I blew threw 5.5 gb this month. I dont understand how you can even use a smart phone w out unlimited. If i had to buy an iphone today, i wouldnt because of data resrtictions. Lets hope att keeps grandfathering unlimited 3g when 4g arrives. Some how i feel like right around then ill end up having to choose between unlimited 3g data and capped 4g. I think id stay with unlimitd 3g.

Jb says:

Im on day 2 of my billing cycle and ive already used 259.01 mb. Thats a whole month of data for 15$, used in one day. Id b skrewd w out unlimitd data. Im almost stuck w att until the gank my plan. No way in hell im changing to any other carrier cause none of them have unlimited data plans anymore. (at least carriers with phones worth owning)

Andrew Wray says:

@Jb agreed, I'd be in hot water if I weren't able to grandfather in my unlimited data plan when I got my iPhone 4. 6 days into my current cycle and I'm already at 3.3gb of use. Bottom line: the amount of data for $30/mo here is almost laughable.

I thought it looked good, then it was capped at 1GB - FAIL. Then I read the second paragraph - no support for 4!?! Epic and complete fail.

BradM73 says:

I wonder why it wouldn't support the 4. Seems to me you could connect any wifi device to it?

Better deal: Virgin Broadband2Go MiFi for $150. Runs on Sprint's EVDO REV A data network this thing does and provides a wi-fi hot spot for your iPod/Pad, laptop or whatever all at the same time. $40 a month for unlimited (I've looked and haven't seen anything about a cap anywhere) data with no contract. Sure it's an external device but it's a much better deal.

Edie says:

Damn! Being a Sprint user not to long ago, let alone.. Loving them!!.. This turned out to be an epic fail. Wow, I'm very disappointed..

glenn#im says:

No not here. 1G a bad deal for that price. All the hot spots I use are free. There have been times that I wished for a connection, but not enough to go for this deal. Data plans are the real money makers for the carriers. With so many free minuets, it is easy to forget the amount of data you use.

carolinamic says:

I might check it out. I text a lot, and when I do download something I'm at home on my wifi.

Edward says:

Epic Fail! Boo and Im a Sprint user and I must say I rather enjoy the service.

owen says:

if you have wifi where you are just use that one to save money. This is meant for itouch users on the run, and if you where one, you find this very useful. Also since there's wifi almost every where, 1 gb should be enough, i mean if you all blowing 3-5.5 gb PER DAY W/OUT 3G,then this should be just fine. This is meant as a last resort, or something for a little extra, not for 24 hour usage
Ps. I don't even HAVE sprint, i have an iphone, and with all those free calling and texting apps for the ipod touch, I could've saved some money w/ this, but I have to wait 9 months for the contract now.
