Monsoon introduces Volkano Flow, Volkano blast to shift your TV to iPhone, iPad - TiPb at CES 2011

Monsoon has announced two new boxes, Volkano Flow and Volkano Blast along with apps to let you transport ("sling") your home TV to your iPhone or iPad.

Flow is $99 and is barebones slinging. Blast is $199 and added DVR, schedule recordings, web video like YouTube, and mobile video recording (you pick your mobile device and it will record a TV show specifically for that format). The iPad and iPhone apps are $9.99 and the Windows and Mac apps are free.

We got the live demo at CES 2011 so watch along and let us know if you're interested in the new, cheap Volkanos.

At 99 bucks, the Flow makes for a great impulse buy to replace my aging Slingbox AV.

tuscanidream says:

Meh. Watch tv anywhere? I hate watching it at home. A 12 minute show is 30 minutes due to commercials on a service we already pay for. That's like paying for an iPhone app and having iAds in it.

Francois says:

I was looking to buy a slingbox but ill wait to see how good this one work. We need a demo for the app. Thanks

Alli says:

I wonder what the difference is between the newly announced Blast, and the Deluxe available prior to CES - where Monsoon did not charge for the iPhone/iPad app.
I love my Vulkano - works so much easier than a Slingbox.
One caveat - not all routers allow UPNP, so if you plan on showing your digital media through your Vulkano to your tv, make sure your router supports UPNP or you won't be able to use this feature.

ITOne says:

Alli,
What works "easier" on the Vulkano? I can't imagine anything being easier to set up and use than a Slingbox.

MT says:

I love my Slingbox Solo, but these Volkano products are sure priced right - so is the app at $10. If I wasn't already invested in Sling, I'd sure consider this... depending on the product reviews.

Paul Pazdziora says:

TV OUT TV OUT TV OUT.
Please if any of the people involved in this are reading. I will go out and buy it RIGHT NOW, if you support TV OUT.

mrngh1 says:

If they plan to use the current vulkano app, it is now free in the app store... Universal for iphone and ipad!!!!! If you might be interested in this product, you may want to pick it up...

Kenneth says:

This looks great - question is: when will they be available? There's no mention of either on the Monsoon site.

I have the Slink Link adapter from DISH and I will never switch to anything else now. I can watch TV and my DVR recordings on my phone. Check it out at dish.com/tveveryhwere. I am a DISH employee and can say that I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone.

Its such as you learn my thoughts! You appear to understand a lot approximately this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I feel that you can do with a few % to power the message house a bit, however other than that, this is wonderful blog. An excellent read. I'll definitely be back.
