Apple releases iOS 5 beta 2 for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Apple TV, iTunes 10.5 beta 2 for Mac

Apple has just released iOS 5 beta 2 (build 9A5248d) for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Apple TV, and iTunes 10.5 beta 2 for Mac. It's a rare Friday release for a company that, in the past, has typically released every second Tuesday.

It's also a large release, the iPhone 4 version weighing in at over 817MB (hey, those notifications gotta sit somewhere!).

As always, you need a paid developer account with Apple to get it (don't fall for those UDID slot sale scams!), and installing via Xcode is usually your safest bet.

If you're downloading now, be patient. Apple's servers are no doubt being slammed. When you get it, let us know what you think! And don't forget to head on over to our iOS 5 Forum for the latest discussions!

A.D. Maynard says:

Oh snap! Can't wait to hear about it =D

Dr. Brad says:

UDID slot selling isn't always a "scam." Some people aren't developers yet want to try out the new betas. People will sell slots for usually pretty cheap, and thus provide a cheap service for the brave non-developer early adopters.

Try says:

Care to share Joey? So we can dl it faster than the apple servers

dloveprod says:

I kinda like this new unpredictability that apple is displaying.

Applecpugeek says:

Is iTunes 10.5.2 available for Windows? Do I have to use 10.5.2 to install I iOS 5 beta 2?

Chirayu Patel says:

It is available, you can download it from your developer account.

Applecpugeek says:

The Windows version of 10.5.2?

Dr. Brad says:

Fair enough, however I paid like $3 to have my UDID registered back with iOS 3, and it still works. So, It is definitely shady business, and shouldn't be responsibly recommended, but not all are "Scams." I paid for a sketchy service, and was satisfied for my $3. I'm just being technical. - Dr. Brad

Adam says:

Most of the time, it isn't a scam. I got my UDID registered for iOS 5 and the "customer service" (they have a whole site dedicated to registering) was both fast and good, basically like any other company. And no, I'm not stupid. I use it on my secondary device and only for seeing what iOS 5 looks like (couldn't wait!).

Ted_hershey says:

is it developer only still? or can i get it as a consumer?

Jonathan Seals says:

Most of them are, I waited on my friend to tell me if his was a fake or not, so I know of one good one, but yeah I can see why nobody should really trust them, easy way to be scammed.

Jonathan Seals says:

Hey TiPb, you know iTunes 10.5 beta 2 is also for Windows right?
