Apple now offering AppleCare+ for iPhone, now includes accidental damage

Apple is now offering a new service called AppleCare+. AppleCare+ is only available for the iPhone and adds accidental damage to the usual AppleCare.

AppleCare+ for iPhone extends repair coverage and technical support to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.

As well as this additional feature of accidental damage, AppleCare+ still offers all the previous features of AppleCare; such as two year repair coverage and technical support from the original purchase date. To qualify for AppleCare+ it must be taken out at the same time as you buy your new iPhone and costs $99.

Apple now offering AppleCare+ for iPhone, now includes accidental damage

They didn't replace my dead time capsule or dead apple express. Told me to buy another one. They did replace my iPhone 4 because they reconized it as being defective after having them use it for an hour. So my consensus is… if it semi-works, they fix/replace it. If it dies, though shit. It doesn't matter if there is a website called

Water damage is under accidental damage. So yes. If anything, you can jsut smash teh phone and call it accidental. Same thing.

So you pay for a warranty, and then have to pay again when something happens? What kind of $%^&*( up @#$% is that?! I am an apple fan, but that doesn't make sense to me.

They are charging you extra fee for incident of neglect/accident. If they just do a straight up no fees including accidental damage, the rate will cost too much which deter people from getting the warranty at all.
Its insurance and its optional. Take it or leave it. At least its not mandatory like other insurances.
If you look at the insurance the carrier offer, its actually not great. On Sprint, its $8/mo + $100 everytime you need to replace your phone. [insert dj scratch noise here] math time. $8*24months + $100x= 192 + 100x is a lot more than $99 + $50x.
Its insurance, take it or leave it. At least you have a choice to want to be f in the ass or not, unlike auto insurance or other insurances.

Big difference is sprint covers lost phones also. Apple isn't giving u nothing if u lose your phone...99 bucks or not

Works better if you have your GF come in instead. Preferably a cute one who pretends to not know much. The latter requirement is easier.

I notice the price of Applecare also went up $20, from last year. I have Applecare on my I4, and getting it replaced was a real pain. It wouldn't consistently act up, but I had a few videos of it doing it. They weren't interested in seeing them, just that I couldn't replicate the problems there.
And for my GF who broke here screen, there was no courtesy one time free replacement...

I have a friend that got his iPhone wet, and was honest about it, and Applecare actually replaced it anyway because he was honest about how it happened. He'll be an Apple owner forever...
