Infinity Blade 2 crashing on first-gen iPad and older iPod touch hardware?

Some original iPad and fourth-gen iPod touch users have reportedly been met with immediate crashing issues after launching Infinity Blade 2, which launched to wide success yesterday.

For some users Infinity Blade II seems to be running out of memory on their heavily laden iPad1 and iPod Touch devices.

The problem stems from how iOS handles icon caching on your iPhone home screen, where older iOS devices with a large number of apps installed create memory constraints resulting in a force-quit upon launching. The Epic team has let everyone know they're working hard on a fix and will push an update to the App Store as soon as they can, and in the meantime they've updated the App Store description to let users know the problem exists.

Any readers using older iOS hardware running into this?

Infinity Blade 2 crashing on first-gen iPad and older iPod touch hardware?

And I can easily hit 120 megs free RAM with Mem Doctor, so it's not like it's struggling with a few too many icons (got 93 apps).

Also Infinity Blade 1 has the same problem, the same crashing as infinity blade 2, hope they fix both on original iPad (iPad1)

Same goes for iPod Touch 4G regarding IB1. And like CSoe said, its so annoying when you have to restart because the save file gets corrupted. I feel sorry for those who ventured to pay money for in game coins- only to have their game restarted.......
Hopefully once they find a fix for IB2 they can apply to IB1...

It's happening on my 4th Generation IPod Touch running iOS 5.0.1, can't get past the title screen. I hope they push the fix soon as having a broken 7-dollar app really hurts.

我出现同样问题! = I have the same problems!
Get with the times Vic! We live in a global world.

This happened to me too. I'd be upset that I wasted the money, but it's working fine on my iPhone 4. So I'll just deal with it.

Think the problem is that the iPad 1 has the same graphics processor as the iPhone 4. But the screen is much larger. So, they probably cannot get the fill rate for that device and get a good frame rate. I'm sure its OpenGL ES 2 and that is a difficult proposition on the iPad 1. Would not be surprised if they needed to disable some features on that device.
3GS phone has no retina display and no large screen. So, its not surprising it runs faster -- fill rate is higher. Actually, I like the 3GS phone for games better than iPod 4 gen and iPhone 4 for graphics. It has the newer graphics processor but not the display issues. Though, I'd prefer a iPhone 4S -- that solves all the problems.

I finally got it to work on iPad 1 by DELETING ALL ICON HISTORY (by double-tapping the home screen and then getting rid of ALL)

Ok I have a fix to the IB crashes after it crash at any point in the game I re launch as it starts the opening video I look for the second logo to view then I hold down the power button on the edge of the iPad as if to power down the power down will overlay the Infinity Blade screen mid video, next I wait a few seconds and select the cancel button, NOT the power switch! The Infinity Blade start video will freeze wait a few seconds and the round game start button will appear. Press the start button and it re starts the game at the last played finished point no lose of game data. Good luck.
