Google Voice for iPhone updates with native call integration on the Sprint network

Google Voice Update include native Sprint call integratrion

Google has updated their Google Voice app for the iPhone, including complete integration with Sprint to allow calls to be sent directly to the 3rd party app rather than the stock Phone app. Here's the complete update log:

  • Multi-recipient texting, with contact autocomplete.
  • Sprint integration support: sends all calls to the native dialer when the phone is integrated with Sprint
  • Multi-line text entry field with character count.
  • 1-touch Copy/Paste in dialpad

This is rather big news, and somewhat surprising that Sprint would allow this to happen. Given the nature of most carriers these days, letting subscribers bypass their network completely is a good indication that Sprint has their ears open and are actually listening to the requests of their user-base.

Google Voice is available in the App Store for free and compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

This update is broken. All outbound GV calls show up as your phone number not your GV number. Where is the qc google?

It already did that...??? What am I not understanding here?

my best friend's step-aunt makes $73 an hour on the laptop. She has been out of work for 9 months but last month her check was $8532 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more here... View More

If you think about it for a second, it's a wonder more cell carriers DON'T do this. You have to buy a phone line to use the phone anyway. The more people buy phone lines without actually using them, the better off Sprint is. If you move to another company, you pay the cancellation fee whether you port your number or not, and now you've got more people looking to get the most expensive data plan.

Google apparently fired all of their QA team. All calls, irrespective of carrier are being dialed from the native phone. I've got AT&T, and my calls aren't being routed properly, which means the recipient sees my phone number, not my Google Voice number. Good job Google.
