More details emerge on the upcoming iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak

Apple A5

Pod2g has decided to share a little more information on the hopefully soon to be released iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak. In a blog post, pod2g has answered a couple of questions that may have been on your mind as you await its release. One of the questions is how he has managed to get an untethered 4S and dev teams still haven’t released tools to achieve this at home?

The exploit I used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account, and can’t be released publicly. It’s the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn’t distribute it. So, we need to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.

It looks like the jailbreak may not be as imminent as we expected. Until this last hurdle is out of the way, it can’t be released publicly. We will let you know as soon as we hear anymore.

More details emerge on the upcoming iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak

No need unlock, just jailbreak also enough, comeon pod2g, u can do it!!! For unlock just buy from other country's telco.

Would you like to buy it for me? I don't know about you but many of us do not have the money go to another country and buy the phone, or to get the phone sent to us as well. Now on another note, I would love an unlock as well because I rely on it, however a jailbreak for my 4s pals would be great. Anything the Devs give us, I gladly take because I know they spend many hours on these protects and do not get paid, so kudos to those great individuals.

Why are people still concerned about unlocking their phones? By the time you break your contract with At&t and pay the ETF and fees you might as well had just bought the unlocked version from Apple.

Unlocking is only a small part of it. Even if you bought an unlocked iphone from Apple its still restricted. People want Cydia and the tweaks/options it gives you.

Well I do want Unlock due that I bought an iPhone 4 (like a craiglist style page) for mi wife and she is in T-Mobile tough it was unlockable due that it was on 4.3.3 but at the time didn't check for baseband (I know it was an error on mi part) either way i'm planning on going to H20 for here so on may i'm out of T-Mo on on to H20 (By the way work great I got H20 and I'm pleased)But hey i'm just saying is not like i'm pressuring someone.

I've gone so long without a JB I'm more than likely wont even JB once it's released. I do miss BiteSMS but I've learned to do without.

I JB last week when they released untethered. And I didn't miss BiteSMS when it was not on my phone but when I got it back and can respond to messages straight from the preview at the top I'm wondering how I got along without this.
Small tweaks make it all worth it too. Can't wait for 4S JB to drop so I can buy a new phone.

If he's trying to inject untethering files, does that mean that he already has a tethered jb done? I don't care if it's tethered I just want to reskin my phone

they should stop talking until they are done. If i was Apple i'd just patch something they've discussed before they finish and ruin all their blabbed about work. This is like someone with a secret that can't help talking.

I jailbreak for SBSettings and BiteSMS. If Apple adds, Quick Reply features and some toggle widgets, I won't be on Team Jailbreak anymore. Oh I have a Cydia tweak to reassign the camera button on the lock screen to any app (Camera+). I can live without that though.

i dont understand why apple insists in making it so hard for you to do what you want with your damn phone. i remember 2 years ago when i got my palm pre all you needed was this simple code to put in developer mode and thats all you needed. then you can do what ever you want with you phone. this is bs..... i need a tethering app.....

yeah i had a pre too. but the problem is that was the worst phone i've ever had and my 4s is the best. the pre, preware, and codes didn't make the phone not a piece of crap. but the reason they do it is to protect there product experience. if it get's altered people, may not be satisfied, and that reflects poorly on their brand. But hey it hasn't been impossible to jailbreak. And people have the option to go somewhere else and use a different product if they are unhappy.
