Apple's Stance On Native App Development: Meh
Apple has promised to neither hinder nor help the third party native application market that's currently flourishing on iPhones and will likely flourish on iPods Touch. Of note, they note that their position could change upon re-evaluation.

I wonder what happens when someone brings their iPhone in for service because they screwd up a hack. Free repair? $200?
Hopefully they'll just tell you to run "restore," since that seems likely to fix any possible problem.
I'm sure someone will manage to brick one eventually.
