iPhone 5 rumored to be keeping to fall release schedule for 2012

Will the iPhone stay on a September or October release cycle?

Apple is rumored to be sticking to a September or October 2012 release cycle for the iPhone 5 -- or whatever they end up calling the next-generation iPhone -- just as they did with the iPhone 4S in 2011. Japanese news site Macotakara reports:

According to Asian reliable source, the next iPhone will be released in September or October, and this cycle seems to be kept for years.

Previous to the iPhone 4S, Apple historically held to a summer release cycle, with the original iPhone hitting on June 29th, 2007. Subsequent releases of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS were in mid July and late June respectively, with the iPhone 4 following up on June 24 of 2010.

With the iPhone 4S, however, Apple switched to a to an October release window, moving away from the summer cycle they've been accustomed to and taking the Holiday spot previously reserved for the iPod. Given that Apple announced a record-breaking quarter with over 37 million iPhones sold after the iPhone 4S hit consumers late last year, it was likely a smart move and it makes sense for Apple to continue on this path going forward.

iMore previously reported on an October 2012 release date for the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 rumored to be keeping to fall release schedule for 2012

Thanks for the thoughts you have cotetibunrd here. In addition, I believe there are several factors which really keep your automobile insurance premium straight down. One is, to bear in mind buying motors that are inside the good directory of car insurance companies. Cars that happen to be expensive will be more at risk of being lost. Aside from that insurance coverage is also depending on the value of your car, so the more expensive it is, then higher the premium you have to pay.

No offence but the chances of that happening aren't good. Imagine what it would be like. The iPhone 4, then 4S, then 4GS? Doesn't make sense.

Hi I am so thrilled I found your site, I rellay found you by mistake, while I was browsing on Yahoo for something else, Anyhow I am here now and would just like to say cheers for a fantastic post and a all round entertaining blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read through it all at the minute but I have bookmarked it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more, Please do keep up the excellent job.

I think you're on the money with your comment. Like you say, I think a lot of the eantiooml response comes down to a difference of opinion regarding what you can do' with something. Tech nerds like to tinker with machines; they get excited by specs. By comparison, the general public gets excited by what they can do in terms of being productive' (whether that's work or play), and enjoy devices that make this easier. However, they don't care whether they're powered by Intel, an A4 or well-trained hamsters.I suspect much of the eantiooml response from Apple's products is down to it just works', which is, absurdly rare elsewhere in the industry.Anyway, thanks for the comment and I hope you continue to enjoy the site.

Im 100% sure there wont be any iPhone 5 release during 2012. In fact there won't be ANY iPhone 5 release EVER.
Apple has moved on from the nickname people gave to its 5th generation iPhone, since they already released it under iPhone 4S.
iPhone 4G is probably not a good move either cause that would be the 3rd iPhone with 4 in it. So my guess is iPhone 6 ! ;)

iphone 3G>iphone 3GS
iphone 4>iphone 4s
how doesnt iphone 5 make sense? what doesnt make sense is going from iphone 4S to iphone 6

@anon... you're on the right track (and essentially correct), but you're reasoning is flawed. As rene pointed out to me, the iPhone 3G was not technically a generation (why they chose "4" for the technically 3rd gen phone is beyond me, at this point). So that means that the next gen iPhone is technically the 5th gen iPhone. From a superficial standpoint, the what-would-appear-to-be 6th generation iPhone should be the iPhone 6. Again, rene, that whole "3g isn't technically a generation" thing screwed up Apple's lineage for the iPhone. I think we will see how the remainder of the iPhone line will fall into place when the next iPhone is released. I personally think they should take the iPod approach: simply call it "iPhone" and let the generation be underlying. Just as they approach everything else in their lineup. Let the techies (those of us who care to differentiate the gens) use the gens in convo... just like the iPod lines, just like the iMac line, just like the Apple TV line, just like the Macbook lines, just like EVERYTHING else Apple.

You forgot the first iPhone, or iPhone1. So...technically it would go: iPhone1>iPhone3G>iPhone3GS>iPhone4>iPhone4S>??? They basically skipped the iPhone2 and called it the 3G, so it would make sense to call the next iteration the iPhone6, right?

yea i did forget that. but they named it for iphone 3G for the 3G data speeds. i think they will follow the same scheme as the iphone 3GS. at least for now.

If you're gonna count 4S as a generation then you should count 3GSas one too
iPhone. ( 1st gen)
iPhone 3G (2nd gen)
iPhone 3GS(3rd gen)
iPhone 4 (4th gen)
iPhone 4S ( 5th gen)
Next iPhone = 6th gen.
So no iPhone 5. Besides job mentioned in an interview that 5 has been a bad luck number for other product releases so that's why they chose not to name 4S as iPhone 5.
iPhone 6 , this June. ;)

I bet on the 4GS. Just to capitalize on the whole trend of naming every phone with 4G on he end.

i sure hope not. i want a bigger screen. doesnt have to be huge, but 4" would be nice. if they dont make the screen bigger with this one, sad to say, i might start looking towards droid. although in all reality, probably not, because i enjoy having a phone that works and doesnt constantly mess up. but still...bigger screen, must have.

Seriously? A rumor? Nothing against TiPb but I thought this was common knowledge... No way that Apple would break their 1 year release schedule, it only makes sense. Especially since the 4S is just being release in some countries right now.

Ive had this case for 2 months now and at the start it was rptety good but now when watching videos and stuff the ipad is slipping out the case, im on the look out for another one, any suggestions???

Valuable info. Fortunate me I found your web site by chance, and I'm stunned why this accident did not took place earlier! I bookmarked it.
