Apple releases OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 update

Apple has just released OS X Mountain Lion version 10.8.1, the first point update to their latest generation Mac desktop operating system. Here's what Apple has to say about it:
The OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.1 Update is recommended for all Mountain Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac.
This update includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac, including fixes that:
- Resolve an issue that may cause Migration Assistant to unexpectedly quit
- Improve compatibility when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server in Mail
- Address an issue playing audio through a Thunderbolt display
- Resolve an issue that could prevent iMessages from being sent
- Address an issue that could cause the system to become unresponsive when using Pinyin input
- Resolve an issue when connecting to SMB servers with long names
- Address a issue that may prevent Safari from launching when using a Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC) file
- Improve 802.1X authentication with Active Directory credentials
You can grab it from the Mac App Store (MAS) now. Once you're setup, let me know how it works for you. Personally, I'm hoping for just a little bit more battery life love on the Retina MacBook Pro...

I hopes it makes things a little more stable.
as do I. random apps seem to just crash for no reason upon launch. Messages, the Displays control panel, etc.
I don't see any OS X update in the app store for mountain lion :(
im still noticing issues with exchange email with mail 6.0......each time I open mail all is fine but when i choose either sent folder, deleted folder, etc all my 'exchange' mail disappears
I was hoping this was fixed with 10.8.1 but looks like not, not sure if anyone out here can test on 10.8.2
I'm with Rene on wanting to hear about any battery-life improvement for us rMBP owners...
Haven't had time to test it out thoroughly, but the numbers themselves have increased tremendously. On battery power, it went from the typical 6:48 - with almost immediate drops - to 10:18 on a full charge. If that holds up, or is anywhere near with real use, I will be thrilled.
After installing the new update of 10.8.1, at full battery charged still reported at around 5 hrs of battery life. The sleep indicator light still glow solid white after the lid closed (still connect to power adaptor plugged).
