Alleged iPhone 5 assembly compared to iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS in pictures

Alleged iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4S vs iPhone 3GS compared in pictures

If you had a bunch of purported 2012 iPhone 5 parts lying around, wouldn't you want to slap them together and line them up, Usual Suspects style, beside a 2011 iPhone 4S (with color modifications) and a 2009 iPhone 3GS? That way you could see who was the tallest, who was the thinnest, and who absolutely had the most metal on its back plate. Well, that's exactly what the folks at iColorOS have done.

If these parts are accurate, there are no huge surprises here. The iPhone 5 shows off its 4-inch, 16:9, 1136x640 screen and the extra casing height to support it. It also shows off it's slightly svelter profile, its new armor plating on the back, and its newly centered FaceTime camera. Other than that, it's just parts porn at the moment. That's not to say it isn't good parts porn, but if you want a lasting relationship with an iPhone 5, you'll still have to wait for an introduction on September 12, and then pick one up on September 21.

Alleged iPhone 5 assembly compared to iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS in pictures

Am I the only one who thinks the next iPhone will look stupi if it just gets taller, but not wider at the same time. If this is the case, then I am just going to get a 64 gb 4s. Blah.

Ya I agree it should be wider. I was really hoping for a wider screen not just taller. That's pointless. All that means is we can now have one more row of icons on the homescreen. And movies will be 16:9. I know I still need to hold it myself and mess around with it but so far I'm not impressed at all and I'm not trying to be just another person whining about the supposed new design, but c'mon compared to what other companies are offering right now ,this is weak. The only thing it has going for it is LTE, new maps, and that famous buttery smooth UI experience that iOS offers. I love Apple but instead of just impulsively buying the next iPhone in gonna compare it to a couple other android phones with jellybean to see which one comes out on top. At the moment in loving my 4S tho :)

Loking at them side by side, It looks like Apple has been going backwards in terms of design. It started with the awesome 3GS and its getting worse and worse.

The 3GS looks so much better than the 4 or the 5 design. If Apple could just make it as slim as the 5, it would be a beautiful design (if a bit too much like the Galaxy 3). Too bad Apple is moving in the direction of the square slabs now.

That's my thought. I realized this when I had to help a staff member setup their new iPhone 3GS. As I held it in my hand, I thought to myself that this was a better design than the 4 and 4S. A taller, wider, and thinner 3GS design perhaps with a Kevlar unibody and edge to edge screen (less bezel) would certainly have been more attractive, in my opinion. None of the iPhone 5 renders is WOWing me. Looks like a slightly larger iPhone 4. YAWN.

So 2 questions;

Does this mean that the pixel density will go down? By my math it looks it'll drop to near 300 PPI. Or am I wrong on that? Secondly, will this affect the claim of having one handed operation be paramount to the user experience? I remember quite well iPhone users complaining about the size of 4" Android phones being too big.

My understanding is that the pixel density wouldn't change at all. We'll just have more pixels... an extra row's worth.

Sorry guys, I've seen the real final product, the front panel Is, but the back body is really different, the real iPhone 5 look alike a iPad 2 but with some Bisel, laser Drilled Speaker Holes, but material seems not Aluminium and has a nice Black or White Matte (like some fine champagne bootles) finnish, No 3D, but NFC.

Did anyone else notice that is an iPhone 4, not a 4S? Position of the mute switch on the left side, and absence of top antenna break on the right side. Not as important as the rest of the conversation, but my OCD would not let it go unmentioned, since the headline is: "Alleged iPhone 5 assembly compared to iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS in pictures"

That is all, you can resume your arguments.

I would just like to point out that the color mod on that iPhone 4 is terrible. Gold, blue, and white do "not" complement each other well.

Now we know. :p
