Weekly Photo Contest: Panoramas with iOS 6!

One of the huge new features of iOS 6 is the ability to take panoramic photographs with the built-in camera app and what a better excuse to use it than to enter iMore's next photo contest! The only rule for this contest is that you must use Apple's new built-in panorama feature in iOS 6 to take the photo -- the subject matter is completely up to you. Just be creative and, most importantly, have lots of fun!

The prize: $30 iTunes gift certificate

In addition to a thumbs up from the iMore crew and all of us yelling about how great of a photo star you are, the winner of this week's photography contest will receive a $30 iTunes gift certificate allowing you to stock up on some of those photography apps you've been dying to buy!

The rules

The rules of entry are very simple. The photo must have been taken with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (we'll check the EXIF data of the original file to verify) using the built-in panorama feature of iOS 6 and any edits must have been done with an iPhone or iPad app. No Photoshop CS6! If you have external lens accessories you are more than welcome to use them. You can submit as many photos as you'd like, but remember, this is a contest, so make sure you submit your best work!

Now, before you run off to take your photo, remember that it's not technical skill alone that will claim this prize. Even if you're not the best photographer (yet!), a great eye and a great subject can still get you the win.

However, a little help can never hurt, so make sure you check out these articles from our iPhone photography series for some tips.

How to submit

Submitting your photos is easy. just head over to the iMore Photography Forum and post your photos to the official contest thread. Don't forget to state which apps, if any, you used to edit your photo!

That's it! Now go out and shoot!

Weekly Photo Contest: Panoramas with iOS 6!

Kewl!! Looking forward to trying out iOS6 soon and all the features/improvements it has to offer... seriously considering selling off my Galaxy S3 (It's good but Android is... well Android) and purchase an iPhone 4S again. I would love to get my hands on iPhone 5 but man, it's like uber-expensive here!

I'm new to iPad, but I had the impression that panorama portraits were an iPhone5 feature using iOS6. I can't seem to find how to do it on my iPad3 running iOS6. Is this an error in the contest rules or am I not seeing the option on my iPad?

That's not exactly fair for the people with iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4th gen. Just because we are not on the latest doesn't mean its OK to exclude us from this.

I don't see any possible way to do this on an iPad. If this is in fact only possible on an iPhone 5, then it's unfair.

I just checked the apple website, and the 6th footnote says:

"Panorama is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation)."

Since the 5th generation iPod touch isn't coming out until October, this contest is ONLY for people who own iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 devices.

That leaves me out!
