Everything you need to know about Apple's faster processing, better picture-taking, stronger antenna arrayed, Siri voice-assisting iPhone 4S
Unlike preview years, WWDC 2011 came and went without mention or glimpse of a new iPhone. It wasn't until October 5 that Phil Schiller took the stage to introduce a new iPhone that once again looked almost identical to the previous iPhone, but also, once again, was all-new on the inside. Released on October 14, 2011 for $199/$299/$399 on contract, the iPhone 4s fixed the antenna problems, it added an Apple A5 chipset, and it massively improved the rear-facing camera to 8mp. It also introduced Siri.
Code-named N49, version iPhone4,1, and model numbers A1387 (GMS), A1387 (CDMA), and A1431 (China), Apple reduced the price of the iPhone 4s to $99 on contract in 2012, and $0 on contract in 2013.
