iMore at CES 2013: What's in Rene's gear bag

iMore is live at CES 2013, and that means we're carrying all our blogging gear around in our bags. Kevin already showed you what he's packing, and now it's my turn. Check out the video up top for everything that's slung over my shoulder for CES.

I'm curious Rene, why do you carry two phones? Just for fun, or maybe one for business one personal? Just asking as one of the big reasons originally went the iphone route was i got sick of carrying several devices in my pocket. Oh that and asking also cause i noticed a friend carrying two phones and an ipod touch and was like "that's a lot of stuff."

ok, but do you carry multiple items because you're are an enthusiast of is it more because work or life makes it a necessity? By the way. that's a fancy camera.

Are you tired of going office daily? Earn 50$ per hour working from home with Google! I get paid over $87 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Here is what I've been doing, GoogleCash.fab17.c0m

He's probably carrying two phones on 2 different carriers in the hopes that at least one of them will get a signal when he needs it. CES is a show filled with 150,000 geeks, connectivity isn't good for anyone.

He is probably carrying 2 phones because it would look weird for an iMore EiC to be using a nexus device without an iPhone in his pocket lol. Especially since the iPhone is roming...

Haha, so you're lugging a 15" mbp because of the retina display, but you brought the iPad mini cause its such a "joy" to travel with, hmmm.....

Yup, the kind of work I do benefits from pixels. I need it on the Mac way more than on the iPad, so I'm heavier on the Mac, lighter on the iPad.

Just curious, not argumentative, but what are you doing on the mac that the trade off of pixels is worth the weight over an air or just using the ipad?

Everyone uses devices differently. I wanted to know why he sees a retina display mbp more valuable when travelling than the Air. My question was based off his comment that the mini was great for travelling, emphasis on travelling, when the weight/size difference between the ipads is much smaller than the weight/size difference of the macbooks. Just saying....

why dont you just unlock your iphone 5 and go on pay as you go, leave a voicemail message saying you can reach me at this # or txt me here.......sucks to carry 2 phones all the time.
