First clip from the jOBS movie released, Woz says it’s not even close to what actually happened

First clip from the jOBS movie released, Woz says it’s not even close to what actually happenedThe first clip from the upcoming jOBS movie starring Ashton Kutcher as the late Steve Jobs and Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak has been released. In the short clip it shows Steve and Woz discussing how Woz has the ability to create a personal computer that actually displays information on a screen in real-time. The clip was discovered by Gizmodo and Steve Wozniak jumped into the original posts comments to have his say on the accuracy of the clip.

Not close...we never had such interaction and roles...I'm not even sure what it's getting at...personalities are very wrong although mine is closer...don't forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn't around and didn't attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future.

I never looked like a professional. We were both kids. Our relationship was so different than what was portrayed. I'm embarrassed but if the movie is fun and entertaining, all the better. Anyone who reads my book iWoz can get a clearer picture.

Of course the film was never going to be an exact replica of what actually went on back in those great days but the first available clip does appear to miss the mark by quite a bit; which is really disappointing. If you are looking for a film to closely represent what actually happened, you may have to wait a bit longer for the film being written by Aaron Sorkin and produced by Sony, which is based on the official Walter Isaacson biography of Steve Jobs.

First clip from the jOBS movie released, Woz says it’s not even close to what actually happened

Did they really make a movie, cast a very bad but popular actor, get it wrong, try to profit off it, and think nobody would notice? "This guy"?? He's only the other co-founder.

So that would be, "yes, he just plugged his book." If I decide to see the movie, i'll know that he's selling a different story. I'm definitely not going to bet money on which version is fact or fiction.

Yeah, he did but what you did was just breeze right by what cardfan said. What he said was kind of important as this "guy", Steve Wozniak, is the only living authority of the accuracy of this exchange.

Sorry, but we're talking about competing products (marketable stories). We're not discussing a libel or slander case. If Woz wanted that kind of consideration, he wouldn't have plugged his book, and pursuing legal action remains an option. So, pay to hear whichever version floats your boat.

The topic was authenticity. The authority on authenticity said the product had none. He then referred those interested in authenticity to his alternative. Why wouldn't he?

He also said that those interested in entertainment value might be fine with it.

And, he never made such statement about the Walter Isaacson book, as far as I know, so maybe he isn't the shill that you make him out to be.

Maybe he, like many of us, would prefer or expect that stories about us contain at least a reasonable balance of truth and fiction.

Since I have no dog in this hunt, I should probably unsubscribe because another stereotypical Internet response from you will annoy me more than I should allow it to. Peace

Look sparky, it's a matter of honesty. The movie claims to be the story of Jobs. The only other human being who was there said this isn't accurate.

Why are you still talking?

My dense can you be? Just go buy the Woz book and don't go see the movie. You're acting like a Woz groupie.

Why didn't the ass hole get involved then and tell it how it woz! Sorry for that, couldn't resist!

He knew the film was being made, surly he would have liked the film to be a closer portrayal of events?!

Ah, jeez - another reason to get the Macolytes knickers in a twist - this time to discuss (read hotly argue) comparative value, this time about two brands of movies on His Jobsness & The Woz.

Biopics are generally for people who cannot read nor understand the subtleties of a human life when put into print. They are not about the subject. They are about creating drama and emotional impact. Isaacson's book was wonderful, probably as close as we will ever get to the real Steve Jobs. The movie is pure exploitation. Apple's stock plummeting could have just the right effect on the movie sending it directly to DVD.

If you're looking for authenticity, then the Sorkin movie will likely disappoint as well. Don't get me wrong, it will probably be a very good movie with riveting dialog -- that's what Sorkin is best at -- but in Hollywood there is a general opinion with biopics that authentic = boring. Which is okay, because that's why we have books.

I agree 100% with Woz. If it's fun and entertaining, all the better. What makes me sad is that the average non-tech who doesn't follow the industry like we do or have read 'book's regarding this era or subject will take this as gospel and it will spread like wild fire as something that happened. Personally I want to see this movie but am aware enough to accept it as entertainment and not much else.

Ashton Kutcher will do about as well in this movie as he does in two and a half men. It probably doesn't help that in the TV show, he plays a billionaire computer geek with weak social skills and a mountain of money, unlike Steve J. who was incredibly charismatic. This movie will likely make Cook look more boring than he usually does at Macworld.
