iOS 6.1 jailbreak may arrive as soon as this Sunday

iOS 6.1 jailbreak may arrive as soon as this SundayThe long rumored jailbreak for iOS 6.1 may arrive as soon as this Sunday. The jailbreak which has been in testing for a while now has been working fine with each beta release of iOS 6.1. The team needed to wait for the official release of iOS 6.1 so it could be fully tested with the final version of the firmware. Well the good news is that after yesterday’s official release of iOS 6.1 all is working fine and we may even see the jailbreak released this Sunday.

MuscleNerd, who is part of the new jailbreak team which goes under the title of Evad3rs confirmed via Twitter that iOS 6.1 final version is safe and can be jailbroken by the same means as the other beta releases of the firmware. The even better news is that in a further tweet, MuscleNerd teased that the jailbreak may even arrive on Super Bowl Sunday.

@MikeBeas @evad3rs yep 6.1 is safe

Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs /

This untethered jailbreak has been a long time coming but those of you that like to jailbreak your device should not have too much longer to wait now. A point to note however is that the Evd3rs team are advising those who want to jailbreak to avoid the OTA update method and instead connect your device to iTunes and do a full backup and update this way. Apparently doing an over the air update is more time consuming for the team to fully test and also provides different SHSH blobs.

For me, Sunday can’t come soon enough! The lines are blurring between a stock iPhone and a jailbroken one but the thought of getting back the extra functionality that BiteSMS and LockInfo provide is just too mouth-watering. Who else is looking forward to the iOS 6.1 jailbreak?

iOS 6.1 jailbreak may arrive as soon as this Sunday

That's the point. It maybe released on Sunday.

Not sure why you thought the article was saying otherwise unless you mistook the "beta" for a full release version.

I've stayed at 5.1.1 on my 4S in order to keep the Jailbreak. Glad I can finally update - an annoying lot of app updates are already iOS6-only.

I also keep 5.1.1 on my 4s to keep the JB. Once I switched to the iP5 I really missed having a JB and glad to finally be able to do it again :)

I stayed on 5.x to keep the jailbreak option. Considering how one the wait was, I'm glad I didn't upgrade, months ago.

The article needs some clarification:

Not only do you ought to go through iTunes for the update process, you should do a full-on Restore rather than just hitting the "Update" button.

This news is almost 24 hours old. Every other blog ran it yesterday :(
Jailbreakers need to shop elsewhere for the most current news.

The mobile nations sites(specifically imore) is always a day late it seems on news. But on e thing is for certain, if you read it here you can take it for truth. If you want up to date JB news then iDownloadblog,9to5Mac, and MacRumors are a good place to start.

I'm sure jailbreaking will never completely go away, but I am really looking forward to the day where iOS packs enough punch to fully take advantage of the power of iOS devices.

I was sincerely hoping this would be the case with iOS 6. It's been a bitter disappointment.

So yes, I may very well jailbreak (sigh).

To clarify, if we do an **OTA** update from 5.x to 6.1 this week prior to Sunday, then this coming jailbreak will not work -- is that correct?

First things I will install:
-last App : gesture that switches back to previous app you were using
-hands free : access Siri without even touching phone
I lost jailbreak when I got my iphone5. So I can't remember half the apps I used

Oh happy day! My iPad 3 has been stuck on 5.1.1 to keep jailbreak and I been left feigning for Intelliscreen X on my iPhone 5! Thanks jailbreak team and please bring it on soon!

For those of us new to the iPhone, where is the best place to get a rundown on the neatest/best/coolest things to do with the phone after jailbreak? i.e. cool apps, mods, customizations, etc... Thanks.
