Mobile Nations fitness month week 2: Nutrition!

It's February and you know what that means? Mobile Nations Fitness Month! That's when we all get together to get in shape, share tips and tricks and recipes for success, review amazing apps and accessories, give away great prizes, and have a ton of fun! This year we're doing it a little differently, though. We're doing weekly themes, and that means every week you'll have new and exciting challenges, and new chances to win!

Week 2: Nutrition!

You know the old saying, you are what you eat? It's a cliche because it's true. Food is what gets us going and makes us run. Eating the right foods can improve the way we look and feel, how we handle stress and how we make it through the day. Food is our fuel, and we want to make sure we give our bodies and minds the best fuel possible.

As part of fitness month, we'll be reviewing a bunch of great apps and accessories that can help motivate, track, and train us to eat better and smarter.We'll also be doing THREE cool contests!

Eating Clean contest

First is our Eating Clean contest. Every day this week there'll be a thread in our health and fitness forums, and all you have to do to enter is tell us what you ate during the day. The idea is to get a little community pressure going so we all eat less junk food and more healthy, tasty meals and snacks. If you have a food tracker, a Withings scale, or any other device that helps you out, you can simply share your results each day!

This is a great way to keep us all motivated and accountable, and get a little healthy peer-pressure going! Plus, every day you enter is a chance to win a $20 gift certificate!

Nutrition MY Way contest

Second is our Nutrition MY Way contest. Just head on over to Nutrition MY Way thread in the forums and tell us how you use your mobile device, your phone or tablet, to eat healthier. What are your favorite apps? What are your go to accessories? We want to know! Tell it to us in the form of a story, like a blog post. We'll post the best entries on Friday, so get them in ASAP! Need more incentive? We'll pick one winner a week and send them a $100 gift certificate!

Mobile Nations fitness month week 2: Nutrition!


It may be silly, but I have been eating well for a little over a year now. What I need to do is drink more water, so that is going to be my goal! At least 8 full cups a day and to be more detailed, 4 cups by lunch and at least the full 8 before bed.

I'm going to focus on the 40/40 in February. Eat better yes, but also focus on doing 40 minutes of activity each day.

Been utilizing green smoothies for about a month now. Working to get more vegetables into my diet.

Did 90 minutes of XC skiing this morning (plus hiking to/from trail). A bit rusty, but I stayed vertical :)

My goal is to log my food all month in myfitness pal --- even if it isn't pretty--- and also to continue my Insanity routine with only missing two days of the schedule this month (keeping it practical!)

Labels, and lies. I believe it is so important to research, and learn to read labels, and learn the lies labels are saying. No MSG but it has the word anodized yeast, guess what MSG. Then there are the GMO in everything. Eating healthy, used to be easy, but the food industry has learned this quickly, and now eating healthy will be costly. Organic is good, but also costly. I would like to see apps that help in this confusing food world. Sugar, not cane sugar, comes from sugar beets genetically modified, or GMO, corn is all GMO. If it says on the label it is healthy, most likely it is not. I find the best thing to do is just eat food that is not processed, and has no additives. When I stopped eating processed foods, I noticed a major difference in the way I felt, and had more energy to exercise. I make my own lunches for work, and stay away from bad foods. It is hard, but like I said, noticed a big difference in the way I feel.

The goal is simple: extend the fitness month to a whole year! I started running last September and have no intention of stopping when March rolls around!

My goal is basic: to tone my body by losing somewhere between 10-15 pounds. I started going to the gym regularly two weeks ago so I'm motivated right now and hope it stays that way!

My goal is to get back to the weight I was after my deployment, 180. I'm 200 now and hiding it relatively well because I am stocky. Good luck to all this month!

That scale looks cool. I started using the "Monitor Your Weight" app following the iMore review - it is a great app. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really want to reduce my body fat percentage by about a third across the next six weeks. Heading to PCB for spring break. Gotta look FLY! >_>

Im just trying to eat healthier and not over indulge. Ok yes if you saw my tweet I did have two glazed donuts but they were worth it =)

I have already cutting down on portions and cutting out junk... next implementation is gett my fat ass off the couch at night.

I LOVE my daily fitness routine! :) I walk for 30 minutes at work in the fitness center, and when I get home. I slap on my running gear and go for a 45-60 minute run outside! It works for me and since I'm a Weight Watcher member, I use the new ActiveLink to track my daily activity points!! Works great! :)

My goal is to lose 10lbs this month. I use Fitness Buddy to track my gym routines, CarbsCounter to track my carb intake (for my diabetes).

After our son was born and I had no time to workout. I was off for 6 months on parental leave and when I got back to work I made some changes. I joined a gym that was a 10min walk from work and started working out on my lunch hour 5 days a week. Changed my office chair with an exercise ball chair and bounce it on all day. My diet is pretty good, I became vegan about 2 years ago. I think I have found the right balance for me. I lost 20LB of fat and gained about 10LB of muscle. mobile nations fitness month jolted me out of a near death situation due to weight. thank you so much. i am now doing 30 minutes on my livestrong treadmill. but i must say that, it was not easy going from 5 minutes to 30 minutes 4 days a week. thank you so much.really appreciate what you are doing(changing lives for better)
