Find my iPhone now has driving directions to device locations

Apple's Find my iPhone app has been updated to include driving direction to device location. The Play Sound, Lost Mode, and Erase buttons also now appear separately from the map view. The driving directions feature requires iOS 6, so users still on iOS 5 will not be able to enjoy this convenience.

Find my iPhone is Apple's app that will let you use another device to find your lost or stolen iPhone and protect your data by remotely wiping it. In addition to just finding your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you can also choose to send a custom message to the screen, play a sound for two minutes at full volume, and remotely lock it.

Thankfully, I have never needed to use Find my iPhone to locate a stolen device, but I have used it to find my misplaced iPhone in the house. The sound that emits from the iPhone for two minutes is extremely loud (and rather annoying) making it super easy to find my iPhone during those times I'm trying to rush out the door but can't seem to find my iPhone that has wedged itself under the couch cushions... or mysteriously made its way into my daughter's toy box.

What about you? Do you have any great stories related to Find my iPhone? We would love to hear them!

My sister's iPhone 4 was recently stolen and we tried to use this app to find it. Unfortunately, whoever stole this knew what they were doing because they immediately shut off the phone and have not turned it back on since.

With that being said, a cool enhancement to this app would be the ability to show the last available location. I think this would be helpful (for the police) to try to find stolen iPhones.

I totally get what you are saying. But in order to do that, the App would to constantly check your location, which could drain the battery. Currently it only checks the location when you request it via the app or website. You can setup a notification to tell you once the phone is turned back on, which would then report the location immediately.

this is one of the reasons i jailbroke my iPhone. There are apps out there don't let anyone turn off the iPhone until the passcode lock has been answered correctly. (keeping a passcode lock is obvious for the most imp comm device). That way your able to locate the iphone until the battery is drained or out of reception area.

The directions do work on the original iPad through Google Maps and my iPad is not operating on the iOS 6 since my device isn't supported any longer.

My brother's iphone was stolen last night, we keep chasing that with Find my iphone.. from Last 24 hours we are waiting for that latest location., but now suddenly it starts showing that no other device is connected with this ID. Whats that mean I dont understand whats wrong... might be theft delete the account I cloud account form I phone but I am not sure how he or she did without put on the phone.
