Sonos makes the Play:1 official for $199, available now in the U.S
Following one U.S. retailer letting the cat out of the bag a little early, Sonos has today made official the new Play:1. Priced at $199, the Play:1 is the lowest priced speaker in the Sonos range, and from now until the end of 2013, purchasers will be rewarded with a free Sonos bridge to help get your system up and running. Available today throughout the U.S, the rest of the world will have to wait until October 29.
A custom-designed mid-woofer and tweeter deliver deep, rich and surprisingly big sound. With a powerful low-end and crisp mids and highs, new smart processing technology pushes Sonos’ drivers further than ever before, minimizing distortion even at full volume. Plus, PLAY:1 projects a wide field of sound, delivering a great listening experience no matter where you are sitting in the room.
The Play:1 comes in a choice of black or white, but despite its size retains the functionality of its bigger brethren. It connects to your home network in just the same way, and can be controlled via the iOS application just the same as well. And, as with other Sonos speakers, you can pair it up in a system with other speakers and the Sonos Playbar to create stereo or surround sound offerings.
On the top of the Play:1, there's a play/pause button that can also be used to skip to the next track by pressing twice in quick succession. This feature will be coming to existing Sonos products via a software update starting today.
