Microsoft Office team shares vision of the future

The Microsoft Office team has put out a video showing a vision of the future where edge-to-edge, interactive, multitouch and gesture-based panels are everywhere. We've seen things like this before in movies like Minority Report and Iron Man, and even ye old Bill Gates CES Keynotes of yore. Apple would never produce a video like this -- they want to surprise us with "magical" technology shipping in weeks and month. That's why it's great we have more players in the market than just Apple. You have to make the future, you can't dream it. But you can help inform and inspire it.

iPad 3 Retina Display production facing challenges at LG, Samsung?

CNet reports that LG and Samsung may be met with production issues for Apple's rumored iPad 3 Retina Display.

They have production plans for 2,048x1,536 displays. Starting in November. But those are only plans at this point," said the source, referring to LG and Samsung. "It's not a question of making just one. That, of course, can be done. The challenge is making lots of them," the source said. "This is a quantum leap in pixel density. This hasn't been done before."

Seas0nPass Updated, now jailbreaks Apple TV running iOS 5

Seas0nPass has been updated and it now supports a tethered jailbreak of the latest Apple TV iOS 5 software versions 4.4, 4.41 and 4.42. Unfortunately the jailbreak is a tethered solution which means if you have to reboot your Apple TV it will need to be connected to iTunes before you can use it again. Not that much of a deal for the Apple TV as reboots should be few and far between.

TiPb Asks: What do you want in iOS 5.1?

If you're anything like me, now that you've had iOS 5 to play around with for a while, you're probably already starting to wonder what Apple might have in store for us for iOS 5.1? I'm not talking about an iOS 5.0.1 bug fix update, mind you, but about a 5.1 minor feature enhancement. You know, the kind of iOS x.1 we used to get with the new iPod touch in September back when the iPhone came out in June with iOS x.0.

This year iOS 5 only came out in October so I don't expect iOS 5.1 until January (iPad 3 feels like an iOS 5.2 update.) We haven't even gotten a beta yet, so it won't be any time soon at least. But when it does come, what do you want to see in it?

DIRECTV for iPad updated, now offers in home streaming

DIRECTV has updated its iPad app and it now offers the ability to use your iPad as a portable TV. Before you get too excited, it can only work within the walls of your own home and does not offer any form of remote viewing access to your content. Of course it does a lot more than just in home streaming to the iPad. It also lets you search, record and control all your DIRECTV content from home or when you are away.

The latest update also adds a few other new features:-
