What Happened to iPhone Notes Sync?

What Happened to iPhone Notes Sync?

Back in October of '07, Mike discovered a warning message in Apple's new Leopard Mail that mentioned Notes Sync with the iPhone -- something that the iPhone didn't offer. Rumors flared, and the intertubes began to hope against hope that Apple would offer Notes Sync. Thing is, though, Apple themselves said they'd be offering Notes Sync fully 10 months earlier during Steve Jobs' original Mac World 2007 keynote where he introduced the iPhone. It's right there on the big screen, plain as day. "Notes".

iTunes Music About to Go DRM Free? (Maybe Tomorrow?!)

iTunes Music About to Go DRM Free? (Maybe Tomorrow?!)

Apple Insider has published a rumor saying Apple's iTunes service is about to match Amazon MP3 by going DRM free. This follows on a previous story saying Apple was in negotiations to do just that.

Since the introduction of iTunes Plus (the name given to the higher-quality 256 bit DRM-Free music), only EMI has allowed Apple to carry their music in that format, with Warner, Sony, and Universal refusing to do so, instead only offering them to iTunes competitors like Amazon, Napster, etc.

Play Moto Chaser for iPhone... on Your TV?!

A week or so ago we linked to Erica Sadun's demo of the iPhone SDK's undocumented video out feature. Well, she's been busy since then talking with Freeverse, the developers behind the hit Moto Chaser game for the iPhone. The result? The tech demo featured above.

Good news is that the possibilities are mind-boggling. Bad news is that we're not there yet:

Round Robin: TiPb vs. HTC FUZE Video Preview!

Round Robin: TiPb vs. HTC FUZE Video Preview!

Note: Some people are having trouble seeing the video (comes back as unavailable). It's working fine for me, but if it's not for you, please let me know in the comments, and please try this direct YouTube Video link.

[This is an official Smartphone Experts Round Robin post! Every day you reply here, you're automatically entered for a chance to win an iPhone 3G, Case-Mate Naked Case, and Motorola H9 Bluetooth Headset! More below!]

Did I need to review two HTC Windows Mobile devices in a row? Would it have been better to have the G1 or Bold in between, or would I then have back-to-back front-facing Qwerty or Slider bloat? I don't know. Last week's Palm Treo Pro and this week's HTC FUZE are differentiated not only by form factor, but with the FUZE's addition of Touch Flo 3D (which, during the video shoot, I came to lovingly re-brand "Press Really Hard Stammer 2D").

Fair enough, coming from an iPhone I challenge any non-Apple device's ability to deliver the same experience. They can't. But that's the point of the Round Robin: for each editor to look at every other device from their own smartphone's point of view.

Will the humungous slide-out keyboard be enough joy to cancel out the Touch Flo blues? I don't know yet; we'll find out together in my final, full review later this week.

Meanwhile, check out the video above, and if I'm wrong, mean, or just stupid, let me have it in the comments, or -- better yet -- head on over to the WMExperts Forums and help me see the error of my ways.

Likewise, Crackberry Kevin is suffering without his keyboard and trackball, so be sure to give him all the assistance you can before he he comes gunning for our iPhone in his own video!

Doing so, of course, gives you a chance to win the iPhone 3G and HTC FUZE... and a ton of other cool smartphones and accessories. Prize details after the jump...

Google Maps for iPhone OS 2.2 Feature Flow

Google Maps for iPhone OS 2.2 Feature Flow

So with my cable modem dead all of yesterday, what's any self respecting TiPb editor to do? Document iPhone features, of course! Now, while Google supplies the APIs and data, Apple creates the front end client (which "blows Google away" according to what Steve Jobs said while on stage with Bill Gates back in 2007). What's new in the iPhone OS 2.2 version of that front end? Click the graphic above for a large size look at how Google Maps flows together. Couldn't squeeze everything in, of course (looking at you, position identifying pin drag!), but most of the important stuff should be in there, including:

Forum Review: Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes

Brother’s In Arms: Hour of Heroes Forum Review by msbaylor. (Visit the thread for video and more pics. For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum!

This new game from Gameloft has raised the bar yet again on their games. After finding out that this game has in the App Store I immediately downloaded it and started to play it. The graphics are that of Nintendo64, but the detection, Audio and AI are better than that of the N64. For those of you that remember the ‘ol N64, do you remember shooting the wall and the bullet holes didn’t show up? Or when you would attempt to run over someone with a tank and they wouldn’t die? Well unlike the N64, you can do that in this game, as well as get run over, bombed, shot, or punched in the face.

State of the Apps: 10,000 Now True, 300M Downloads Too, Icon Must-Do, And Promo Code How-To!

Apple has now hit the milestone 10,000th app in the iTunes App Store, and to celebrate, TapTapTap created the awesome icon tile artwork above (via TUAW), and what's more, CNBC (via iLounge) noted that Apple has snuck in some new ad copy claiming iPhone users have "downloaded over 300 million" apps.

Quick App: Resco Bubbles

Quick App: Resco Bubbles

I'm usually not a fan of games like Resco Bubbles, but I have to admit that this one is pretty addictive. The premise is simple:

<

blockquote>Resco Bubbles for iPhone/iPod Touch is an action puzzle game where the idea is to clear the grid of bubbles in order to advance to the next level. You are given a sequence of bubbles, which should be quickly and efficiently popped. Numerous explosive, speed-up, slow-down and damage bubbles keep the game play exciting and challenging.
