Saturday Fake Video: Apple iTablet

Saturday Fake Video: Apple iTablet

Chad spotted this in the wee hours, and it being no faker than many of the so-called analyst predictions about the when's and how-muches involving Apple's still unannounced iTablet, we figured it might be a fun, fakety fake fake sort way to start off the real weekend.

And if Apple by chance does make something close-ish to this, would you want?

Apple Updates App Store -- Less Words, More Screenshots

Apple Updates App Store -- Less Words, More Screenshots

Apple has begun rolling out an update to the way the iTunes (on Windows or Mac) shows the App Store, including fewer words and more screenshots. Rather than the lengthy app descriptions of old, iTunes now shows only the first two lines, with a "more..." tag that needs to be clicked to reveal the rest (time to tighten up that text, developers!). Instead of one screenshot at a time, iTunes also now shows a series of scrollable screenshots, similar to how the on-device App Store began showing them with iPhone 3.0.

Updated: AT&T Outage in San Francisco

Some of our readers are reporting trouble with AT&T's network in San Francisco. If you're in the area, let us know how your connection is working. Is it fine (by that we mean as fine as in usual) or are you having trouble? And if it was down but came back up for you, let us know that as well. Location and time for other readers always appreciated.

UPDATE: Engadget</ got a statement from AT&T:

UPDATED: Apple Countersues Nokia - Patent Pugilism Has Begun!

Remember when Nokia sued Apple for infringement over essential wireless patents? Us neither, but Apple sure does -- in a counter-suit which says Nokia is copying the iPhone interface. Says Bruce Sewell, Apple SVP and General Counsel:

"Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours"

And in the complaint:

TiPb on APR Marketplace Discussing iPhone and AT&T

American Public Radio's Marketplace was gracious enough to have me on yesterday to discuss AT&T and the iPhone with Stacey Vanek Smith. Segment starts about 4:00 min in. Can AT&T build out their network fast enough to get ahead of iPhone usage and growth? Will they need to start charging for tiered data? Is the end of exclusivity the only answer?

Listen in, and then let us know how (or if) AT&T can handle the iPhone...

China Unicom iPhone Sales Slowly Getting Better

China Unicom iPhone Sales Slowly Getting Better

While <a href="http://www.imore.com/2009/12/04/chinese-online-retailer-sells-iphone-weeks/>sales of the iPhone in China have been less than stellar since launch, things are seemingly getting a little better as China Unicom has announced 100,000 iPhones have been sold since it's launch back on October 30th.

If you stop and think about it, China Unicom has about 144 million customers so that 100,000 mark really does not seem like much. Again, we are blaming slow sales on the abundance of unlocked iPhones that actually have WiFi and can be used with Pre-Paid SIM cards.

Foxconn Received Order for 4th Generation iPhone?

Foxconn Received Order for 4th Generation iPhone?

Foxconn sounds like it's once again on tap by Apple to manufacture the iPhone -- the 4th generation iPhone this time around. At least, Eldar Murtazin, EiC of Mobile Review posted that up on Twitter:

"Foxconn received order for next generation iphone"

Engadget's inclined to believe it, and it absolutely meshes with previous years, and with Phil Schiller's June product cycle for the iPhone.

Hootsuite Comes to iPhone, Brings Twitter and Statistics with it

Hootsuite Comes to iPhone, Brings Twitter and Statistics with it

Hootsuite [$1.99 on sale until Dec. 17 - iTunes link] is a hybrid client that not only provides basic Twitter functionality but also hooks into Hootsuite's own services to provide statistics (on things like ow.ly click-throughs) and scheduled tweets (so you can set it to tweet "Happy New Year!" while you're busy getting your champagne on).

In our brief tests, it offered good functionality especially for a first release, with an interesting take on many of the standards, and if you have (or are willing to create) a Hootsuite account as well, it brings a host of new features to the table.

(Though no, push notifications isn't one of them yet).

If you give it a try, let us know what you think (especially you, Bla1ze!). More screens after the break!

Draw: Shareable, Playable, Tweet-able Sketchpad for iPhone

Draw [$2.99 - iTunes link] lets you doodle on your iPhone or iPod touch to pass the time or whip up whiteboard-style diagrams to illustrate your point, share via Twitter or email, and even challenge friend's to tic-tac-toe or homespun games via P2P.

Draw comes by way of Erica Sadun of Jailbreak, iPhone dev, and TUAW fame, and she not only knows how to make great apps, but beautifully stylized ones as well. If you want a good mix of casual productivity and just plain old-world fun on a decidedly new-world device, give Draw a go and let us know what you think.

More screenshots after the break!
