Play the classic Memory game with Instagram photos with Instamory for iPad

Instamory is a new iPad game that is similar to the classic Memory game, only with Instamory, you're matching Instagram photos. If you don't have an Instagram account, nor do you want one, you can still play Instamory with the millions of public photos stored on Instagram. You can also selectively choose exactly which photos you wish to use.

I'm a pretty big fan of memory games and a big fan of Instagram. This is the best of both worlds.

Caching bug in iOS 5 Safari

Caching bug in iOS 5 Safari

On some websites, like CNN shown in the video above, when I hit "back" to return to the previous page, instead of getting the previous page I get a version of the previous page that's from some time in the past, as much as a day or so. I've also had this happen on sites like Reddit. Unless Apple included highly advanced tachyon-based time travel functionality in iOS 5, there's some problem between the web server, the cache, mobile Safari, and my eyes that's conspiring to give me pages from the past.

CBS turned down the chance of an Apple TV deal

Speaking on his company’s earnings call, CBS CEO Les Moonves said that CBS had turned down the Apple TV as a platform for its content. The revelation was revealed in response to a question about CBS’s appetite toward striking deals with new streaming providers that may not have the cash to pay up front for its content. Moonves claimed that CBS had turned down Apple and its Apple TV platform because the offer was based on an ad split revenue source.

Daily Tip: How to share iPhone and iPad photos via iMessage

Taken a bunch of great photos with your brand new iPhone -- or photos with your new iPad or iPod touch -- and wondering how to share them with the people you know? There are several ways, including Mail and Twitter, but you can easily use Apple's new iMessages service for free, or old style MMS if your friend or family member doesn't yet have an iOS 5 device of their very own.

If you already know how to do this, just save the link for family and friends who might not! (We'll do the helping so you don't have to!)

Apple files complaint against iPhone 4S-named porn domains

According to Domain Name Wire, Apple has filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Forum against 7 porn sites that include iPhone 4S in their domain name, including iPhone4S.com (!) which currently redirects to "Free Naughty for Mobile".

And really, you have to ask yourself why Apple didn’t proactively get that domain name before releasing the product. It was registered in August 2008, so someone else had the foresight to follow Apple’s naming conventions.

Indeed. Hopefully iPhone5S through iPhone 500S are now all safely registered by Apple's agents.

Apple ads new don't-purge, don't-back-up file store in iOS 5

Apple has announced that, as part of iOS 5.0.1 beta 1, they've added something that should eliminate the problems iOS 5.0 had with purging data -- everything from Instapaper pages to flight charts.

It introduces a new way for developers to specify files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations.

Chris V: How I use my iPhone and iPad as a biology professor

In addition to being an iPhone/iPad enthusiast, I am a full time biology professor at the University of Texas Pan-American. Since I first purchased my iPhone in 2008, and my iPad in 2010, I have found them to be indispensible tools that I use almost on a daily basis. Some of the apps are the routine built in apps (calendar, contacts, etc) while others are specialty apps that I used for a specific task. As a faculty member, I divide my activities into one of three categories - teaching, research, and service, and I use these two devices in each arena..

New Nook Tablet gets leaked

Phil Nickinson over at Android Central got his hands on some pre-release info about Barnes and Noble's next great iPad competitor, the Nook Tablet.

Let's start with the obvious: Even in a photocopied black-and-white image, it looks like the Nook Color, no? And it retains many of the same features. Same retangular design, same rounded corners, same hook in the lower left. The display is unchanged as well -- a 7-inch VividView IPS display at 1024x600 resolution and 169 pixels per inch. But inside. Man, this thing's been beefed up.

Oink, a new app from Kevin Rose's app development lab Milk, is now available for download in the App Store. Oink is a social recommendation and ranking app that takes a Foursquare-like check-in approach, letting users rate and rank the different items -- instead of places -- that they like.

Siri down for you?

Siri down for you?

We're getting a bunch of emails and tweets asking if Siri is down for anyone else, so we're guessing the answer to that is -- yes, yes it is. It's still working for some of us, mind you, and Siri has been up and down intermittently, and a often, since launch, but this once again seems to be more widespread than normal.

So you know the drill -- let us know if Siri is down for you, and if so, where you are, how long it's been down for, and when it goes back up.
