Evil Dead iPhone app coming soon to app store

Evil Dead iPhone app coming soon to app store

Sam Raimi's horror cult classic, Evil Dead, is coming to the iPhone. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Evil Dead is the first of three films starring Bruce Campbell and revolves around a group of college kids who visit an abandoned cabin in the woods only to unleash pure evil.

Currently there is not much in the way of details about the game except for the fact the characters look like Wii bobble-head avatars. A trailer has been released and if the game turns out anything like the trailer, expect to have a very polished iOS game. As a nice touch, the developer pretty much matched the game trailer with Evil Dead's original trailer and is very well done. View both trailers after the break!

How to setup LockInfo for iPhone [Jailbreak]

LockInfo is a great app available to jailbreakers that once again fills a functionality gap -- this one making up for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad's poor notification system. Until Apple implements a better solution, David Ashman has done an incredible job supplementing notifications with LockInfo.

Even though LockInfo is an extremely intuitive and powerful app, the setup can be a bit tedious. But when you get it right, you'll be in notification heaven! Hit the jump for a quick guide and a video with some tips for optimally configuring LockInfo.

*As a side note, LockInfo is $4.99 right now, as of November 7, 2010 - that price will go to $7.99, so if you've been contemplating, you may want to jump on the current price. There is also a 14 day trial if you would like to test it out first.

Genius Recommendations return to iTunes

Genius Recommendations return to iTunes

Back in September, when iTunes 10 launched, Apple introduced their new Ping social network. This was followed by iTunes 10.0.1 which added the Ping drop down options but also replaced the Genius sidebar with a new Ping sidebar.

Earlier this week, Apple made some server-side changes (which means we don’t have to update iTunes), and now Genius Recommendations have returned to the iTunes sidebar.

Apple to extend iTunes song previews to 90 seconds in the U.S.

Symphonic Distribution is reporting that Apple plans to increase song previews in iTunes from 30 seconds to 90 seconds in the U.S. According to a letter sent by Apple to label representatives, any song that is over 2 minutes and 30 seconds will be offering a 90 second preview and any song that is shorter in length will remain at the current 30 second preview.

We are pleased to let you know that we are preparing to increase the length of music previews from 30 seconds to 90 seconds on the iTunes Store in the United States. We believe that giving potential customers more time to listen to your music will lead to more purchases.

iOS 4.2 features: Volume slider widget for iPhone and iPod touch

iOS 4.2 GM brings a volume slider widget to the iPhone and iPod touch, just like beta 1 did for iPad. Since iPhone and iPod touch have a no landscape view for home screen, and much narrower screen real estate in general, the volume slider isn't next to the other widgets like it is on iPad, and there's no brightness slider to go with it, but here's what you do get:

Jailbreak on iOS 4.2 will be untethered. Possible delay due to Cydia compatibility.

Jailbreak on iOS 4.2 will be untethered. Possible delay due to Cydia compatibility.

Comex has announced on his Twitter feed that iOS 4.2 will be an untethered jailbreak. While current devices can be exploited and jailbroken for their lifespan without the possibility of a patch, the ability of the jailbreak being untethered was still at issue.

An untethered jailbreak differs from a tethered jailbreak in that a tethered jailbreak must be connected with a computer after each and every reboot of the device. Comex has developed userland exploits for Star, Limera1n, and Greenpois0n, keeping them all untethered.

Steve Jobs speaks: iTunes Extras and iTunes LP coming to Apple TV

When upgrading to the new iOS powered Apple TV, you may have noticed that iTunes Extras and iTunes LP were missing. These features were included with the old Apple TV, so imagine the disappointment when veteran Apple TV users were stripped of them. Conor Winders of Redwind Software was one such user and emailed Steve Jobs himself regarding it.

The question:

58-inch multitouch table runs on iPhone [Jailbreak + Video]

58-inch multitouch table runs on iPhone [Jailbreak + Video]

The guys behind the iPhone-powered 58-inch multitouch table (think Microsoft Surface) have released a video demonstrating how the system works. Essentially, all you do is hook up your iPhone 4 to the table-top display and away you go. The iPhone 4 display is replicated on the 58-inch screen, and behaves the same way a normal iPhone would (save for the 17x size amplification, of course).

The two guys in the video seem to access the Springboard just fine, they swipe between pages and launch the Photos app. It doesn’t look like a fake, as many readers claimed. The iPhone also seems to be able to output UI elements on that bigger screen just fine.

Check out the video above to get a better impression of how it's working so far. Although this is just a couple of dudes putting a good idea into effect, it would be awesome if we actually see this hit the market sometime down the road.

Video after the break. Would you be willing to slap down your hard-earned cash for something like this if it's ever released? Let us know what you think in the comments!
