Apple announces Steve Jobs to keynote WWDC 2010

Apple today announced that Steve Jobs would be kicking off their World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 2010) with a keynote address Monday, June 7, at 9am PT where he's widely expected to announce the iPhone HD/iPhone 4G.

They also remind us that WWDC 2010 sold out in a record 8 days, and with its decidedly iPhone OS focus this year and competitive pressures this year, we should be in for one heck of a show.

And cue the iPhone HD/iPhone 4G on Sprint rumors

And cue the iPhone HD/iPhone 4G on Sprint rumors

With the iPhone HD/iPhone 4G just around the corner and all the talk about AT&T finally losing exclusivity, it only stands to reason rumors of Sprint getting the device would also start to grow louder.

Just like with Verizon and even T-Mobile's funky GSM bands, we're sure Apple could technologically do it, but whether or not they could come to financial terms -- and more important when is less predictable. Sprint isn't doing as well as Verizon or AT&T, however, so they might be far more open to the type of control Apple would insist upon to get the deal done.

If it does happen, count us among those who think a WWDC 2010 announcement is less likely, with AT&T getting a short period of exclusivity with Apple's 4th generation iPhone, and other US carriers coming online in the fall, red, yellow, and perhaps even magenta all.

And if not, hey, Sprint's still got that commercial -- re-embedded below the break -- to tide them over.

So with Froyo, Android Nexus One can tether on AT&T and iPhone still can't?

So with Froyo, Android Nexus One can tether on AT&T and iPhone still can't?

Android 2.2 Froyo updates started going live yesterday for the unsubsidized, unlocked, once-upon-a-time sold directly by Google Nexus One, and it seems to include not only tethering but mobile hotspot (think MiFi, or mobile Wi-Fi router to share your 3G with multiple other devices), usable right now on AT&T -- just about the only carrier in the world that doesn't allow iPhone tethering.

Sure, AT&T is likely running tens of millions of iPhones and only a relative handful of Nexus Ones, but that's not the point. Apple introduced seamless, elegant tethering in iPhone OS 3.0 in June 2009, and while it looks like US iPhone users may finally get it in iPhone OS 4 in June 2010, that's a year after the rest of the world and now -- it's even after Android.

The iPhone is popular, we get it. AT&T's network probably couldn't handle that many people trying to use their "unlimited" plans on tethered devices, we have no doubt. The situations are completely different, we grant the point.

But it's so beyond ridiculous now that it can't -- and shouldn't -- escape mention.

(We'll also note for the record we don't know how long this will last, as AT&T may figure out a way to block it on unlocked devices and carrier-branded devices may remove it entirely or just bolt on a surcharge).

Video after the break.

Bloomies game for iPhone - app review and give-away

Bloomies game for iPhone - app review and give-away

Bloomies for the iPhone, from Phantoom Entertainment, is a time management or sim-style garden game. Your goal is to advance your garden by gathering more plants, bees and achievements.

Upon starting up the game you are taught how to plant a flower by touching the shovel and adding soil to set up the location. Then you choose your flower and place it in the soil. There is also a bee that gathers nectar, which you will use to purchase other bees and flowers.

Bloomies is a beautiful, easy to understand, open ended sim for casual and younger games who want the fun of building their garden without the responsibility of always having to log in to maintain it. If you go away for a little while and don't water your plants, they'll get unhappy but they won't wither and die, and will be ready and waiting for more when you return.

If you're looking for something more interactive and immersive, however, then this style and pace of gameplay may not be for you.

Video, pictures, and a give-away after the break!

Are these iPhone HD/iPhone 4G video call settings?

Are these iPhone HD/iPhone 4G video call settings?

Could these be shots of iPhone HD/iPhone 4G iChat video call settings screens taken off field test units? Who knows, they don't look 960x640 to our pixel peepers but with WWDC 2010 and the supposed unveiling only a few weeks away, anything is possible.

So let us know, real, fake, or really fake?
