Steve Jobs special on Bloomberg this Thursday

Bloomberg will be airing a one-hour special on Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple and the man who helped bring us the Apple II, Mac, iPod, iTunes, Apple Retail, Pixar, iPhone and iPad. The special airs this Thursday, October 14 at 9pm ET as part of their Game Changers series:

How did this college dropout create what has been called the most admired company in the world? This week’s episode of “Bloomberg Game Changers” reveals the many layers of the intensely private Steve Jobs – from his style of leadership and management to his creative process. From the start-up years in the Jobs’ family garage to his recent transplant surgery and release of the revolutionary iPad, Bloomberg Television’s one-hour special examines Job’s early success and subsequent exile from Apple, his failure at NeXT, his redemption at Pixar and his triumphant return to the company he created. Featuring interviews with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak; former Apple CEO John Scully; journalist turned venture capitalist Michael Moritz; Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg; former Apple “Mac Evangelist” and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Guy Kawasaki and Robert X Cringely, technology journalist and former Apple employee.

Check out the video after the break and let us know if you'll be tuning in.

Audiopress for iPhone - app review

Audiopress for iPhone - app review

Audiopress for iPhone is an amazing little app that will let you aggregate all of your podcasts, live radio, and pretty much any news audio into one easy to use app.  It also allows for background audio so you can start playing a podcast within the app, close it out, and continue browsing or doing whatever you'd like while it streams in the background.  Podcasts can quickly start taking up a lot of space on your device if you're bad about deleting them (which I am), so streaming them may be a much better option for those of you who'd like to save space on your device.  Hit the jump for more info and a promo video!

Daylight savings brings annoying alarm clock bug. Software fix on the way.

Daylight savings brings annoying alarm clock bug. Software fix on the way.

iPhone users living in southern Australia were supposed to get an extra hour of sleep with the change to daylight savings on October 3, but didn't because the alarms on their iPhones went off an hour early. Apple knows about the bug and it should be fixed in the next update.

This is a very strange glitch because the iPhone's clock correctly updated with daylight savings, but the recurring alarm clock does not recognize the new time. However, a one-time alarm works just fine.

Apple Trademark Request on "There's An App For That" Approved

Since the birth of the App Store and their ever popular commercials back in 2009, Apple and iOS devices have always been associated with the popular slogan "There's an app for that".  It only makes sense Apple would want to trademark the slogan that made the App Store so popular.  It's not just an advertising tool anymore, it's become so much more than that within our culture.  I frequently joke around when someone asks me how to do something, a frequent response to any iOS device user is "There's an app for that."  And normally, there is.

Cut the Rope for iPhone - app review

Cut the Rope for iPhone is a simple, yet challenging strategy type game.  Your little frog Om Nom wants candy.  The candy is hanging from random ropes with all kinds of obstacles in the way.  Your job is to find a way to cut the strings in the right order to get the candy into Om Nom's mouth.  You'll also need to collect stars on the way down.  The more stars you collect and the quicker you complete a level, the more points and achievements you'll earn.

iPhone 5 to use dual CDMA/GSM Qualcomm chip, no LTE 4G until 2012?

iPhone 5 to use dual CDMA/GSM Qualcomm chip, no LTE 4G until 2012?

Apple might create a dual mode CDMA/GSM iPhone 5 based on Qualcomm chipset in 2011 and push LTE 4G support into 2012 and iPhone 6 according to TechCrunch contributor Steve Cheney:

First things first — the iPhone CDMA model due in January won’t support LTE. But here’s where it gets really interesting: sources tell me that the iPhone refresh in mid-2011 won’t support LTE either. Instead, Apple will produce a dual mode iPhone containing 3G flavors of GSM and CDMA, which operates on all carriers worldwide. If this holds true, Apple won’t support the LTE standard until some time in 2012.
