Drafts for iPhone review: Time-shifting for your ideas

I want to watch something on TV but I can't. PVR. Boom. I can watch it when I want. I want to read something on the web but I can't. Read later. Boom. I can read it when I want. I have an idea but am in no position to leverage it at the moment... Go to anyone of a dozen note-taking or mind mapping or sketching apps that are generally far too feature-filled and cumbersome to get into, out of, and triage things in just exactly the way you need to triage them. This is still a problem that needs better solving.

Enter Drafts for iPhone by Agile Tortoise, which aims to be a staging ground for singular thoughts, an incubator for moments of insight, a way to capture ephemera. It's a new riff on old jazz.

Do you use your iPhone, iPod or iPad on the holidays?

Do you use your iPhone, iPod or iPad on the holidays?

Do you use your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad on the holidays?

It's a holiday weekend for many of us, so here's the question -- are you using your iPhone, iPod, or iPad? For some, this is a deeply religious time and electronics or simply distractions have no place in it. For others, it's just a few extra days off work or school and they'll be spent browsing and gaming even more than usual. Even in religious families, traditionalists might eschew using any gadgets this weekend while modernists might use them to enhance their observances. Even in non-religious families, together time might mean no-gadgets allowed, while for others gadgets might be family entertainment for all. iMore is a technology site and an iOS enthusiast site and we're lucky to have a really rich, really diverse community of users. There are no right or wrong answers here (unless you tell us the iPads are going away so the JooJooPads can come out!). We're just curious to find out how you're spending your Easter, Passover, or long weekend?

A photographic look inside Apple's Cupertino headquarters

Apple's Cupertino, California headquarters might as well be the moon when it comes to technology. It's managed to become so famous yet remain so mysterious that while almost everyone knows of it, few have actually set foot inside it.

Blade-Tech tactical holster for... your iPhone!

Blade-Tech isn't your everyday, ordinary iPhone accessory maker. In fact, iPhones are usually the last thing you think of when you hear the name Blade-Tech. The first thing, obviously, is blades -- as in knives -- followed closely by guns. That's probably why Blade-Tech isn't selling a iPhone cable or even a case. Blade Tech is selling an iPhone holster.

Bloomberg for iPad review: The best casual stock app for the iPad

Bloomberg for iPad review: The best casual stock app for the iPad

Bloomberg for iPad is a great way for casual traders and investors to interact with their stocks and stay up to date with the news they care about the most.

The App Store is chock full of applications to help investors and traders manage their portfolios directly from their iPad. While some applications provide a wealth of information and are geared towards brokers and users with extensive portfolios, most users just don't need a $100 application to check in on their stocks. I've found Bloomberg for iPad to be a good compromise between usability and information overload.

Everyone can make music with Figure for iPhone

Figure is a great new app that puts music creation into the hands of everyone, even non-musicians. It has a very unique interface that's easy to use and makes creating music a lot of fun. You slide your finger around a pad to play bass and lead, and tap columns to play the drums.

What makes Figure so great for non-musicians is that you will always be in the correct key and play to the beat. You get to be creative with the pitch and tones, but Figure will always make sure that your choices are "correct" musically.

AT&T to begin officially unlocking off-contract iPhones, and good on them!

AT&T has announced that they've put in place an official policy for unlocking off-contract iPhones. This comes after the office of Apple CEO Tim Cook intervened several times to get AT&T to unlock off-contract iPhones, and iMore among others wondered very loudly why this couldn't simply be their default practice.

Great artists steal

Great artists steal

The late Steve Jobs referenced the quote "good artists borrow; great artists steal" and since then it's been weaponized and used to both condemn Apple for a perceived lack of creativity, or to excuse or justify competitors for feeding off Apple's creativity, or both.

There was Xerox PARC before the Mac, critics say. There were Palm Treos or LG Prada's before the iPhone. There were Tablet PCs before the iPad. Nobody copied Apple and if they did, Apple copied other people first! Great artists steal!

Except that's not what the quote means, and it's not at all what Apple does.

Great artists steal inspiration not implementation.
