Nuance release Dragon Remote Mic, use your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as a wireless mic [video]

Nuance has released an iOS application that turns your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a WiFi connected microphone. The app runs in conjunction with Nuances’ just updated Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.

In conjunction with the launch of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5, Nuance introduced the Dragon Remote Mic App, a free application on the Apple iOS app store which makes it possible to use an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad as a wireless microphone for Dragon via a Wi-Fi network connection. Many customers have requested to use their smartphones and other mobile devices with Dragon to have more flexibility with how and where they dictate with Dragon. The new Dragon Remote Mic App takes advantage of the nearly 200 million iOS devices in use today, and transforms the device into a wireless microphone that easily captures dictation and controls applications on your PC.

Of course, it is widely rumored that Nuances’ VoiceOver technology will form a major part of iOS 5; when it is eventually released in the fall. Only yesterday we saw some evidence of setting screens for the voice integration in the latest beta release.

There is some bad news if you are considering picking this free app up from the App Store. You will need to buy the PC software which starts from $99 as an upgrade from a previous version. There is no Mac version either, it is PC only!

Take a look at the app in action in the video after the break. If any of our readers have the software and try out the app, please let us know how it works in the comments!

Will iCloud keep the MobileMe web apps?

There's some debate as to whether or not Apple will keep the MobileMe web apps, like Mail, Contacts, and Calendars around after the transition to iCloud. Some have heard no, that Apple will trash them and go 100% apps. Others have heard yes, that Apple will keep them around.

PSA: Don't leave bad app reviews based on iOS 5

We go through this every year, so apologies for not posting it sooner, but once again we'd like to remind everyone not to leave bad app reviews based on crashes or other "bugs" under iOS 5. Why?

Because iOS 5 is in beta. You're not supposed to be using it for anything other than testing your apps. Developers can't even upload iOS 5-compatible binaries to Apple right now, so there's nothing they can do about it, nor is there anything they should have to do about it.

Mac OS X Lion will boot to Safari-only mode, should iPhone and iPad?

It sounds like the latest developer preview for Mac OS X Lion will allow you to reboot into a Safari only mode (similar to how a Google ChromeBook is perpetually in Chrome-only mode), as part of the upcoming Find my Mac feature. Should iPad have that option? iPhone and iPod touch?

Unlocked iPhones finally coming to US Apple Stores this Wednesday?

TiPb Asks: What are the best things to watch on Netflix?

Now that Netflix is streaming to iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Apple TV, what are some of the best things to watch? There's family programing to keep the little ones entertained, car shows and animal documentaries to keep the men enthralled, recent movies for when friends and families arrive, and sitcoms old and new for when you need a laugh. There are so many movies, TV shows, and specials, it can be hard to figure out what's best to watch next. And because some of them vary by time or by region, it can be a little complicated. (Hello Mad Men in Canada, good bye James Bond in the US!) That's where the TiPb nation comes in, of course!

What do you consider the best things to watch on Netflix? What are the classics no one should miss and what are your current favorites? If we got to peak at your Recently Watched list, what would we see?
