The keys to Apple's to success in China: People, stores, and partnerships

Apple's been making great strides in China, and CEO Tim Cook today elaborated on how. China's been long regarded as a market that should have been challenging for Apple, but the explosive growth seen by Apple in the last quarter was fueled in part by the anticipated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but also by massive growth in China.

Alfred Remote gives you a remote launchbar for your Mac

Alfred Remote gives you a remote launchbar for your Mac

Since my early Mac-using days, I've been an avid shortcuts user — keyboard commands, QuickKeys, launchbars, you name it. I probably use my keyboard more than my trackpad for navigating through programs and windows, though I've grown to love the multitouch gestures for swiping screens on my 11-inch Air.

Given that I'm also multitasking with my iPhone almost all the time, it makes a crazy amount of sense that a launcher utility like Alfred would take advantage of that second screen to create a remote control. Enter Alfred Remote: The app uses local sharing with the Alfred app to turn your iPhone into a launchbar for your Mac.

Anki's next-gen robot racing game features jumping cars and modular tracks

Anki Drive has long been one of our favorite connected toys, and the next generation — Anki Overdrive — is looking to literally make a huge jump. The highlight of the new Anki Overdrive, due out in September 2015, is a modular track that replaces the roll-out mat of the first edition. The individual segments of the track are held together by magnets embedded in the edges, and can even be assembled to build bridges that cross the track or have gaps that cars must jump.

iOS 9 wish-list: Universal night theme

iOS 9 wish-list: Universal night theme

iOS 7 was more than just a redesign: It was a reimagining of what mobile interfaces should look and act like. Part of that involved a lot of flat, white space. A lot, a lot. It made the iPhone and iPad look bold and bight, which is fine for everyday use, but when it comes to low-light situations — like the home theater or the bedroom — it can be a little too bold and bright. If you're not careful, it can get you yelled at and hit with a pillow. It's enough to make me wish for a dark theme in iOS 9.
