Even the IFA, the big German trade show that just saw the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 can't escape the shadow of Apple's upcoming iPhone 6. That's thanks to case makers who, every year, bring their dummy units along to show off their upcoming wares. This year, the same manufacturer who previously showed off iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s mockups before their launch had an iPhone 6 mockup ready and waiting. Sadly it was locked away in a glass case, but we did at least get a look at the front and sides.

Tim Cook says Apple will bolster security alerts, broaden 2-step verification, increase awareness

Following last weekend's celebrity photo data theft, Apple's CEO, Tim Cook has spoken out about what can be done to better increase the security and protect the privacy of their customers. The steps include sending notifications for account changes, backup restores, and new device logins; broadening the deployment of two-step verification; and to ramp up efforts to educate customers about the dangers of social engineering and phishing attacks, and the importance of strong passwords. The latter of those steps was emphasized when Cook reaffirmed that iCloud servers hadn't been hacked, the individual accounts were hacked.

After being rumored to be in talks with credit card issuers American Express, MasterCard, and Visa, Apple is now said to be in talks with some of the largest financial institutions to negotiate discounts on payment processing. The iPhone-maker is now speculated to be in talks with American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Capital One, and Bank of America to ink agreements for credit card processing.

BBM update makes attaching photos and files simpler

The cross-platform BlackBerry Messenger app has received an update today. It's not too big an update but it does seem like BlackBerry has made it simpler to attach photos in BBM. Currently, by default, when you tap the paper clip icon to attach a photo, the voice note option is selected. You then had to tap the picture icon to then get the option to attach one. Now, it defaults to attaching file or photos when you tap the paper clip icon.
