Jobs Speaks! Joz Speaks! iPhone and iPod Touch to Bring the Game!

Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, is quoted in the WSJ as being bullish on iPhone and iPod Touch gaming:

"I think the iPhone and iPod touch may emerge as really viable devices in the mobile games market this holiday season."

His VP of iPhone and iPod marketing, Greg "Joz" Joswiak, meanwhile, spoke with T3 recently about his views on the iPhone and iPod Touch in the gaming space, wrapping up strongly with:

Google webpage search results now optimized for iPhone!

Google webpage search results now optimized for iPhone!

Google's Mobile Blog is telling us that they have updated their search results from the Google mobile webpage . The main benefits I have discovered with this update is that there is no longer a need to scroll left and right and that business have easy to touch numbers and addresses that launch the phone and map apps.

Here is the exciting part:

"Over time, we intend to make the newly formatted results pages available through other search entry points on the iPhone."

This is really great news! I think we have all been wanting that dastardly Google Search box to present optimized iPhone results. I guess it is try that Google really "hearts" the iPhone :-) In the meantime, enjoy the gallery and video after the jump!

Quick App: Juxtaposer for the iPhone

I will admit I am not the biggest fan of Photoshop but I am into all of these compositing apps in the App Store and this new application, Juxtaposer, [iTunes link] is one you can really have some fun with, especially if you like taking pictures of your friends and family and making them look ridiculous.

Along with all of that fun comes ease of use as well:

App vs. App: Air Mouse and Snatch

App vs. App: Air Mouse and Snatch

[This is an iPhone blog App vs. App review! Last week, we ran our Shazam vs. Midomi showdown, with Midomi scoring the win. But which commenter won an iTunes gift certificate? Congratulations Patrick! Want your chance to win the winning app this week? Comment below!]

Ever used a laser pointer? Ever used a wireless mouse? Ever wish you could have both in one and more? Well, there are some apps on the iPhone that allow you to do just that! These devices work great! They turn the iPhone into a remote mouse with a virtual touch pad. You use your finger to control the mouse; left-click, right-click, scroll, it makes no difference! You can even create macros to automate launching applications! Let's take a look at two of these apps: Air Mouse [iTunes Link] and Snatch [iTunes Link]

Forget Best Buy and Wal Mart - Costco With a Lower iPhone 3G Price?!

Deja vu all over again it seems. First we heard that the iPhone was going to be sold at Radio Shack, then it was Best Buy, and most recently Wal Mart. Now we have a new player in town bidding for some iPhone love, Costco.

Forum Review: Camera Bag for the iPhone

Forum Review: Camera Bag for the iPhone

Forum Review by msbaylor (Visit the thread for video, more pics, and a bonus Forum Review by cjvitek!) For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum!

Camera bag is a simple and creative application.

It allows you to apply several different filters to a picture you have already taken our one that you can take within the application itself.

Besides the filters themselves, you have the option to choose which resolution you wish to use. The higher the resolution the longer the app will take in saving your new photo, but the better the quality the picture will be. Personally I want the highest quality possible and it didn’t seem to take an unnecessary amount of time to save (the save time is shown in there video below.)

Quick App: PocketMac Entourage, Lotus Notes, and Meeting Maker Sync for iPhone

I'm so boring. I don't use Entourage, Lotus Notes, or Meeting Maker. However, for those of you Mac users who do, and are looking for some help syncing things over to your iPhone, PocketMac may be worth a look. As a bonus, it will also sync your SMS messages and call logs.

If you give it a try, let us know what you think!

AT&T Tethering to Cost $30 per Month?

AT&T Tethering to Cost $30 per Month?

When AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega dropped word that they have official iPhone tethering for data access in our future, we only had one question: how much?

Well, MacBlogz [via Giz] brings word that they expect it will be $30 a month. This certainly seems reasonable (the rumor, not necessarily the rate) as Giz notes that it matches the current tethering plan made available for BlackBerrys. It looks as though iTunes will further recede from being 'just a music player' as it will also handle your tethering setup.

iPhone Backup Extractor for Mac

Furbo.org brings word of the iPhone/iPod Touch Backup Extractor. What is it?

This application converts the iPhone / iPod Touch backups that are created by iTunes into readily usable Mac OS X files. It is designed to run on Mac OS X Leopard only.

Twitterrific creator Craig Hockenberry, among others, claim this tool is invaluable for debugging and decoding.

Freeware, but donations appreciated.

Rumor: iPhone OS 2.2 Only 10 Days Away? Nov 21 Release?

iPhonehellas.gr (via Macrumors) is claiming their sources are claiming that iPhone OS 2.2 is a mere 10 days away, set to drop on November 21st. Nobody outside a very few at Apple -- and maybe the carriers -- know for certain, however, so take this news with a Jobsian-sized grain of salt.

To round up the 2.2 beta features so far (which may or may not make it into the final release, along with whatever secret surprises Apple may have in store):

Judge Blocks Papermaster from Joining Apple

Judge Blocks Papermaster from Joining Apple

According to Apple Insider, US Federal District Judge Kenneth Karas has issued an order preventing Mark Papermaster from taking his new position as a vice president at Apple, pending a decision over IBM's "no compete clause" inspired lawsuit.

Apple and Papermaster have responded, but Daring Fireball doesn't think they have much to worry about, give "Application Group, Inc. v. Hunter Group, Inc., 61 Cal.App.4th 881 (1998), a California non-compete clause case":
