President Obama tries out Sphero, the iPhone controlled rolling robot

During a visit to Boulder, Colorado and Colorado University, U.S. President Barack Obama had the chance to test drive a Sphero -- an iPhone controlled rolling robot. Obama first watches the Sphero roll around, remarking "how cool is that, you can make the ball do all kinds of stuff", before taking the iPhone and taking control of the robot himself. Surrounded by Secret Service -- and co-eds -- the President of the United States gave it a whirl, seemed to enjoy himself, and complimented the inventor, a Boulder native.

Automatically sync your annotated PDFs to Dropbox with Remarks for iPad [Giveaway]

One of my favorite PDF annotating apps just got even better with the addition of automatic Dropbox syncing. With the new update, a new, blue folder called Remarks and labeled with Dropbox will appear in your notes once you link your Dropbox account with Remarks. Any notes you create in this folder will automagically sync up with Dropbox -- you no longer have to manually send a note to Dropbox. It works like a charm.

Minecraft Pocket Edition for iOS gets craftier

The Minecraft port for iOS has had plenty of mining in it since its launch late last year, and now it's getting infinitely more crafty with the latest update. The building sim/monster survival sandbox game with an 8-bit twist now lets you create a whole bunch of blocks to reassemble in your world as you see fit, just like the PC version. When you first drop into your Minecraft world, it's more or less a blank slate, but after gathering basic resources (and now combining them to make new types of blocks), you can build some pretty incredible things. You can even invite friends to build with you if they're in the same Wi-Fi network. Here's a full changelog for today's update:

iPad-controlled flying drone boasts mounted sub-machinegun, self-destruct

Trigger-happy YouTuber FPS Russia recently posted a video demonstrating a prototype hover vehicle similar to the Parrot AR Drone which can be flown with an iPad, with one notable difference: it's got a gun strapped to its underbelly. Or that's the premise, anyway. It's more than likely that this is all fancy CG work, since the video was sponsored by the fine folks at Call of Duty.
