iPhone, iPad untouched by mobile malware attacks

Anti-virus maker McAfee has released a report saying that iOS devices, including iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch were pretty much unaffected by the growing mobile malware attacks facing platforms like Google's Android. Jailbroken iOS devices were slightly more vulnerable, having had to deal with 4 variants of the same attack, but still far less than the 44 affecting Android (a 76% increase.)

Acer reports quarterly losses, blames iPad "fever"

Acer has reported their first ever quarterly loss and Chairman J.T. Wang is placing the blame squarely on "tablets" (i.e. iPad), a "fever" he does not think will last. Having seen their fortunes rise with the netbook market most hurt by Apple's iPad, Wang concedes it would be impossible for Acer to break even this year, but thinks iPad will face and netbooks will regain consumer interest moving forward.

According to a report from Reuters this morning, Apple has instructed its Asian manufacturers to begin production of a lower priced iPhone 4 with just 8GB of on-board storage. The information comes from “People with knowledge of the matter”. The flash drives for the 8GB iPhone 4 will be manufactured by a Korean company according to the same sources but no company name was revealed.
