Adobe Flash Support Coming to iPhone, Ending YouTube Envy

Adobe Flash Support Coming to iPhone, Ending YouTube Envy

What feature request has been on the lips of every iPhone user since the idolized gadget first came galloping out the gate? I'll give you a hint, it starts with the letter "F", and is the same thing your inebriated Uncle Frank does at family get togethers after knocking back one too many martinis. Of course, I'm talking about Flash.

GearLive claims that Apple will be announcing Adobe Flash for WebKit (aka mobile Safari). There have been rumors to this effect for some time, but with the blessed arrival of the much anticipated SDK now only days away, this seems plausible. Still, I wouldn't start bookmarking YouTube.com on your iPhone just yet. Let's wait for Apple make this rumor a reality.

Tip: Fix your Tags in iTunes

1

Tip: Fix your Tags in iTunes

Your iPhone does a better job displaying album and and sorting through all your music than any other device on the planet, past and present. However all that sweet, sweet music on that sweet, sweet interface doesn't do you much good if you don't know what exactly it is you're looking for. We've all had it happen: a friend makes us a mix CD and iTunes can't figure out what's what. Which "Track 2" was that again? Hassle.

Apple Making Games for the iPhone?

Apple Making Games for the iPhone?

What does the iPhone lack? Besides the obvious -- 3G, Office Doc editing, the ability to actually make julienne fries -- what the iPhone lacks is games. Real, on-board games. Some of this pain is mitigated by the fact that you can get web-based games (including some great iPhone games by our very own forum member cmaier). Still, though, do you know what the most popular video game on the planet is?

Flash Support Coming to iPhone?

Flash Support Coming to iPhone?

So says Gear Live, who claims "reliable sources" tell them that it should be coming "very soon." What about those pesky technical issues that were supposedly keeping us from enjoying embedded YouTube Videos (without the iPhone's YouTube app) and amusing Homestar Runner games directly on the iPhone? Supposedly that was all a big lie, the real issue was on the business side.

Maybe this end-of-February mystery event will be about more than just the SDK?

Review: Seidio Inno Dock for the iPhone, iPod Touch

Review: Seidio Inno Dock for the iPhone, iPod Touch

The Seidio InnoDock for the iPhone ($39.95) is a straightforward dock with a couple of non-straightforward features. It will charge your iPhone (via USB) and also features an audio-out port. The main feature, though, is that it's able to work with your iPhone in its case - no removal required.

Apple Event Planned for End of February

Apple Event Planned for End of February

This is the month we are supposed to see the unveiling of the iPhone SDK, finally ending all the omgnoappz drama and obviating the need for Jailbreaking for all but the most hardcore of iPhone users. It feels like the wait has taken forever.

iPhone Marketshare Climbing Fast

iPhone Marketshare Climbing Fast

We're looking at just over 6 months of sales and the iPhone is rocking the marketshare in the Smartphone category like you wouldn't believe. According to Canalys (whose numbers we've admittedly doubted before, but these results look pretty solid), the iPhone has reached 28% marketshare among Smartphones in the US and 7% worldwide. That puts it at #2 in the US and #3 worldwide. They're even ahead of Motorola.

SIM Unlock for 1.1.3 iPhone Unleashed, with Caveats

Does it seem like, with each update to the iPhone, it takes longer and longer for Jailbreaks and SIM Unlocks to shake out? Here's the latest for those of you who want both a SIM Unlocked phone and the latest OS from Cupertino - a SIM unlock from Zibri. There's caveats, though, as you can see:

New iPhone Ads Target Rich, Young, Restless

New iPhone Ads Target Rich, Young, Restless

Apple has posted two more iPhone ads on their site, "Cars" and "Facebook." Both, again, feature the internet features of the iPhone. In "Cars," you not only get to imagine what it's like to stick it to a car salesman with your iPhone, you also get to imagine purchasing an Audi having not even bothered to do any research ahead of time.

Why the Missing iPhones Really Matter

3

Why the Missing iPhones Really Matter

In the Phone different forums, surur (with the help of marcol) has posted up some fine analysis on the question of all those missing iPhones we mentioned a couple weeks back. The question: whether or not iPhone sales had slumped over the holidays (they didn't), but more importantly, how big is the gap between what Apple says they've sold and what AT&T says they've sold. As you can see in the graph above, it's a big gap that's getting bigger.

I'd previously doubted that a significant part of that gap was unlocked iPhones and unsold inventory. It seemed like the 1.5 million gap had to be some error in reporting or other such strangeness. But based on what analysis is available, it's starting to look like "unlocked and unsold iPhones" are exactly what makes up that gap.

The real question, then, is what the ratio is of unlocked to unsold. Actually, the real question is what does this gap tell us about how Apple is going to be able to talk about the iPhone. Read on for the answers to both questions, after the break!

Apple Quietly Adds 16 GB iPhone!

Apple Quietly Adds 16 GB iPhone!

The headline says it all except the pricing and availability. Pricing: $399.00 US for the 8GB (same as it ever was) and $499.00 US for the 16GB model.

Wait? What? Wasn't there, like, this big conference not too long ago where you could make announcements about new iPhones? Oh yea, there was, I was there. Guess doubling the amount of available storage on an iPhone isn't worth Steve's precious keynote time, (but jiggly mode is?). Anyway, it's good news nonetheless.

Breaking: Apple Announces New iPhone with 16GB of Memory

Breaking: Apple Announces New iPhone with 16GB of Memory

As expected, Apple has finally rolled out its long rumored 16GB iPhone, doubling the memory found in the present 8GB model, and bringing feature parity between iPhone and its carrier castrated cousin the iPod Touch. Aside from the much needed memory boost no additional features have been integrated, such as 3G wireless, which is rather disappointing given the new product's higher price tag.

The new iPhone goes on sale today and will retail for $499. The 16GB model takes its place alongside the 8GB model (which remains at $399), and will not replace it, according to Apple. You can found out more after the jump.
