MOG music app for iPhone/iPod touch launches in App Store

Today MOG (Music on the Go) [iTunes Link - free download] has been released into the App Store. For $10/per month you will get access to over 8 million songs with the ability to store the MP3 files (up to 320Kbps) directly on your iPhone/iPod touch to listen to them whenever and wherever you want. Keep in mind this is purely an app that allows you to store the music locally on your iOS device and not actually keep or transfer the files.

Unlike some of the streaming music apps such as Pandora, with MOG you get ad-free music from favorite artists with no limit on the number of consecutive tracks by a single artist. The one big pitfall is the current lack of multi-tasking support. On a positive note we were promised that this will be added within a few weeks time period.

Be sure to check out the video after the the break and if you give MOG's free three-day, no commitment trial a go let us know what you think in the comments below!

Apple and AT&T: network problems and the Verizon option

Apple and AT&T: network problems and the Verizon option

Wired has a great article up detailing the borderline relationship between Apple and AT&T, how both feel the other has failed them, and how both just can't leave.

The two corporations have argued about almost everything. Jobs has been apoplectic about the state of AT&T’s network and what he views as its slow-footed upgrade efforts almost since launch day three years ago. One Apple source says that Jobs has discussed dropping AT&T at least half a dozen times.

Updated: HP applies for PALMPAD trademark, will include stylus?

HP is applying for a trademark on the term PALMPAD which shows they not only intend to compete with Apple in the tablet space, but perhaps to compete with iPad in almost the same branding terms.

Caze Swarovski Apple logo decal give away

Caze Swarovski Apple logo decal give away

The Caze Swarovski Apple Logo Decal is just the item for adding a touch of bling to your iPhone. It features 26 Swarovski in the shape of an apple. The decal is handmade and I have had it on my iPhone for 3 weeks and I have not yet lost a Swarovski crystal. I use my decal with my CaseMate Chrome which I feel makes a nice pairing as the CaseMate Chrome has a opening in the back for the Apple logo. This also protects the logo from wear and tear.

The decal is self adhesive, similar to a sticker. Those worried about getting some adhesive stuck on the back of the iPhone can choose to use a clear round backing, which comes with the decal. (I used it for the video but wouldn't again -- next time it goes bare on the back). I do wish that the apple logo and the leaf were stuck together as the leaf is getting loose and I worry that I will soon lose it.

The decal is wonderful but the drawbacks are that you can not use many cases with the sticker on. I have been able to still use my Mophie Juice Pack albeit snuggly, which would have been a deal breaker for me (yes, I often forget to charge).

FaceTime from the middle of the Pacific Ocean

FaceTime from the middle of the Pacific Ocean

This is ridiculously future-cool -- an iPhone 4 video call from the middle of the Pacific Ocean thanks to a boat, a satellite-powered Wi-Fi hotspot, and FaceTime.

FaceTime from the middle of the Pacific. Arthur and Peter, my MotionX colleagues are in the office in Santa Cruz, California and get video-taped doing FaceTime between Pete’s iPhone 4 in Santa Cruz and my iPhone 4 in the middle of the Pacific Ocean one of the most isolated spots in the world. When it came up, it was like magic! To paraphrase Arthur Clarke, Great innovative technology and magic are literally indistinguishable. This is what the Camera-Phone was designed to do.
