Is Game Center capped at 500 friends?

Game Center, Apple's new live gaming network for iOS, seems to be capped at roughly 500 friends per account. A few days ago, after reaching 501, my account stopped receiving new friend requests. I didn't notice at first since I'd turned off popups and trumpets, and assumed it would slow down after the initial iOS 4.1 launch rush.

Then I saw this tweet from MuscleNerd:

So much for my not-so-secret plan to break GameCenter! They're capping my friend count at around 500 (as soon as I delete 1, I get 1 new request)

Cydia acquires Rock, unifies Jailbreak app store

Rock Your Phone has been acquired by Cydia, creating a unified place to download and buy Jailbreak apps for iOS devices like iPhone, iPod touch, and ipad.

After 18 months in the iOS Jailbreak scene Rock has been acquired by SaurikIT (makers of Cydia) and over the next few days we will be moving all products/users/licenses over to Cydia Store.

Licenses are being transferred to Cydia so you should still be able to re-install all your already purchased apps at will.

New iPad 2 with FaceTime coming early?

New iPad 2 with FaceTime coming early?

iPad 2 with FaceTime video calling is coming ahead of schedule according to Apple Insider who cite "a person with proven knowledge of Apple's future product plans". They say Q1 of next year, but perhaps as soon as before the holiday season.

Q1 2011 wouldn't really be ahead of schedule, however, as that's pretty much when we expect them. (iPad was announced at the beginning of Q1 2010 and shipped just after the end of Q1, not a huge difference). Before the holidays of this year, however, would be a change.

Windows Phone 7 team hold mock funeral for iPhone

Microsoft held a mock funeral today for the iPhone as part of their Windows Phone 7 release to master (RTM) celebration. Followed -- we $#!t you not -- by a Thriller dance.

It would have been more accurate had they been carrying a Kin.

iPhone being tested at JP Morgan, other enterprises

iPhone being tested at JP Morgan, other enterprises

iPhone is being tested at JP Morgan and other large enterprises as an alternative to RIM's BlackBerry, Bloomberg reports. They have 220,000 employees. UBS AG with 63,000 employees is doing likewise and Standard Chartered Bank will have 15,000 iPhones distributed by end of year.

Cost savings and employee preference were the two biggest factors cited by companies for the shift in the Sanford Bernstein survey. Employees would rather own an iPhone and are increasingly willing to buy the device themselves, which helps cuts costs as companies look to rein in spending, said Sanford Bernstein’s Ferragu.
