iMovie for iPhone 4 - app review

iMovie for iPhone 4 is a video editing application designed by Apple. iMovie is also the name of the video editing software included in iLife, which is bundled with every Mac. iMovie is only available for iPhone 4. (Don't be sad, it needs the extra RAM and Apple A4 processing power).

As with most Apple products, iMovie is very easy to use and is fairly intuitive. If a tap doesn't do what you want, a double tap will. iMovie can be used in either portrait or landscape, but landscape seems more natural for me.

Some iPhone 4 have swapped volume buttons?

Some iPhone 4 have swapped volume buttons?

Latest iPhone 4 assembly line craziness sees a few units coming out with their volume buttons reversed -- up is down and down is up.

It's no yellow splotches or antenna band issues -- the volume buttons function normally, so unless your obsessed with only doing what the label tells you, you won't have a problem.

Still, take a look at your iPhone 4 and let us know -- are your volume keys inverted?

QuickOffice HD for iPad- app review

QuickOffice HD for iPad- app review

This week I am looking at QuickOffice HD for iPad. In my ongoing pursuit of productivity apps, I am very pleased with what is coming out of the development community for iPad. Does QuickOffice HD raise the bar again? Let's dive right in and take a look.

Getting documents into QuickOffice HD is a relative snap. First you have the familiar ability to sync from iTunes. Just add your documents and when you sync, they appear in the app. However, the more useful feature is the ability to sync to the cloud. QuickOffice supports the basic usual suspects: MobileMe iDisk- both public and private, Google Docs, Dropbox and Box.net. You enter in your login credentials and QuickOffice will sync the folders to your iPad, but not the content. The folder content will give a preview but only load when you access the document. Once accessed, it stored locally. You can also open and save documents from email and that is always a bonus.

Did you get an iPhone 4?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/23/iphone-4-and-iphone-3g-screens-go-head-to-head-under-the-microsc/

Apple has finally released iPhone 4 -- at least in the first wave of countries -- and many of you pre-ordered for delivery or reserved and stood in line just to get yours. I'm curious as to how many?

Anyone not get an iPhone 4? If not, was it because you couldn't or you chose not to?

Vote in the poll up top and let us know which iPhone 4 you got, or why you didn't get an iPhone 4, in the comments below.

UPDATED: Steve Jobs: During FaceTime, mute is the new hold

UPDATED: Steve Jobs: During FaceTime, mute is the new hold

How do you place a call on hold when you're both on iPhone 4 and Wi-Fi, and the FaceTime button has replaced the Hold button, but you're not using FaceTime?

Jonathan Cowperthwait emailed Apple's CEO to find out:

During many voice calls on my new iPhone 4, the "hold" icon has been replaced with a FaceTime icon, even when I'm not talking to a fellow iPhone 4 user. During such calls, how do I put someone on hold? Yes, there's still a mute button, but these functions are discrete (which is why iOS ≤ 3 had both buttons...).

Official "I survived iPhone 4 release day" comment thread

Kachow. We did it TiPb nation. The great iPhone 4 release day of 2010 in is in the books. And what a release day it was -- lineups started the night before and extended around (and around) the block. No white iPhones were available, of course, and if you didn't have a reservation odds of even scoring a black one diminished rapidly as the day wore on.
