Another countdown to Macworld, another rumor! This one says that Apple is developing a turbo-boosted version of Time Capsule that would offer HP Media Smart Server-like capabilities. Some of the more nifty, iPhone related features, according to 9to5Mac, could include:
The device will tie in MobileMe with an Apple built-in Dynamic DNS system. For instance, if your MobileMe account was "9to5mac", your domain name would be "9to5mac.me.com". This is how you'd reach your filesystem throughout the Internet. Your media would also reside here. [...] Sharing media with iPod Touch and iPhones both over the Internet and while at home. AppleTV as well.
Bla1ze brought this to our attention and while we're likely not the first to notice this, we haven't found or figured a good answer for it either. If you have a low data usage on your iPhone (in the MBs rather than GBs) and you do a reboot, when your iPhone comes back up, the Cellular Network Data meter will be lower.
Above are two screen shots taken right before and right after a reboot, which show the difference.
The iGrip Custom Fit Flexible Mount for iPhone 3G is available in the iMore Store for $19.95. This mount is an excellent alternative to having your iPhone float freely within the cabin of your car. In a day when more focus is being placed on distracted drivers, this mount allows you to affix your iPhone 3G and view the display while keeping both hands on the wheel. How does it measure up? Read on for the full review!
Macrumors is reporting that the large numbers of iPod touch mobile devices received this Xmas has created a mini boom for the App Store, with an average tripling or quadrupling of downloads post Dec. 25th, even on titles outside the Top 100 spotlight.
Browser share for the iPod touch likewise spiked on Xmas morning.
Did you get an iPhone or an iPod touch for Xmas? If so, what Apps did you download?
UPDATE: Looks like neither Skynet's first strike nor a Cylon invasion were to blame, but a power failure in Michigan. AT&T has put out a press release (via Chicago Breaking News -- Thanks Jeremy!). Here's hoping everyone gets their ubiquitous connectivity back ASAP.
Both Jeremy (Chicago) and Dieter (MN) seem to be having no-joy with their AT&T service today. (I'm on Rogers, so aside from poverty, I'm fine thanks!)
Well the day that has been oh so talked about here at TiPb has finally come. The black 8GB iPhone 3G model for $197, and the 16GB black or white model for $297. So much for those $99 rumors although, you will save a measly $2 compared to buying it at Apple or Best Buy (though AT&T does have the 8GB for $99 refurbished).
A few days ago Jeremy mentioned ngmoco:)'s Topple was being offered for free via the iTunes App Store. One of the reason's why is that it's subtly advertising the new game in town: Rolando, which is picking up a lot of very positive word of mouth.
Have you tried it yet? Should we believe the hype?
Yes, folks, Jon4Lakers appears to have iPhone Nano fakes just in time for Macworld? And could it be from the same fine folks who brought us the fake Mac Mini poster?
Sure, case makers have made iPhone Nano rumors all the rage again, but just shrinking down the screen's physical size making capacitive targets difficult for beefy fingers to hit doesn't make much sense, does it?
