Rejected iPad app developer gets a call from Steve Jobs

If your iPad app is rejected from the iTunes App Store there's a slim chance that, just like developer Ram Arumugam, you might get a call from Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Arumugam emailed Steve Jobs after his app was rejected but instead of getting the typical "[something curt] - Sent from my iPad" email back, he got a phone call. The Seattle Times reports:

The two talked about Arumugam's app, called "Economy for iPad," and why it was rejected by Apple

How to put on (and take off) an Incipio Destroyer case for iPad

The Incipio Destroyer Case for iPad is a cute name for something that's supposed to protect your precious iPad, but protect it does. Like a tank. Seriously. It bloody well comes with a tool to secure it on and off! Does that make it difficult? Not really. I found it rather intuitive actually.

Check out the video above to see me give a try, and there are a few pictures of the final results, after the jump!

MarkdownMail for iPhone and iPad - app review

YouTube Link

MarkdownMail for iPhone and iPad allows you to write articles in the Markdown format. You'll then be able to export the markdown in an email or send beautifully formatted HTML emails from the app itself. For those who aren't familiar with what markdown is, let's cover that first. Markdown is a markup language created by John Gruber and Aaron Swartz. It's extremely easy to learn and extremely convenient and efficient for publishing online. Markdown will basically convert your content into valid and properly formed XHTML. You don't have to deal with HTML tags and code. Markdown will take care of that for you.

Read on for a quick walkthrough of MarkdownMail which is currently available for both iPhone and iPad.

Want to play iOS games on your big screen TV?

Want to play iOS games on your big screen TV?

We've seen iPhones used to control iPad games before but now it looks li Looks like our dreams of using our iPhones as a controller while playing iPad games on our TV are coming true. Big Bucket Software is the first to make it happen.

The Incident is a retro-style action game available on the iPhone and iPad that has a controller mode which allows use of your iPhone as a controller for the iPad. In their next update, you will be able to use your iPad as a console (with video out) so that you can play the game on your TV. This is very exciting and we can't wait to try it out.

Now it's time to dream further. Sure, using AirPlay to stream the game directly to Apple TV would be awesome, but it'd be even more awesome and much more elegant for Apple to open up the SDK of Apple TV and allow developers to make games that can be purchased directly with Apple TV. Pair this with Game Center, and Apple could make a decent competitor in the console business.

To see a video of The Incident in action, follow us after the break!

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.5 ahead of iOS 4.2

As part of the steady march towards iOS 4.2, Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.5. Beta versions of this OS were said by developers to be necessary to enable iOS 4.2 iPhone and iPad AirPrint support for networked printers. Now, however, there have been rumors networked AirPrint support has been postponed or cancelled.

We'll try it out with the iOS 4.2 GM but we likely won't know for sure until the release version of iOS 4.2 hits, hopefully soon.

Steve Jobs replies to questions regarding AirPrint

Earlier today we told you how network air printing was rumored to be removed from iOS 4.2. According to MacRumors one of their forum members decided to shoot Steve Jobs an email to find out what is going on with regards to this issue.

The email to Jobs:

As a release-day purchaser of an iPad, I was elated when you revealed iOS 4.2 would support AirPrint. Now comes reports AirPrint support has been pulled from 4.2. Between announcements/assurances of the white iPhone, and now the pulling of AirPrint, is Apple going to lose credibility and become known for announcing "vaporware"?

Jobs' reply:
