Facebook 3.0 (Sans Push) for iPhone Submitted to iTunes App Store

Facebook engineer and -- more importantly to us -- Facebook iPhone (and iPod touch) app developer Joe Hewitt announced on Twitter that he:

Just uploaded Facebook for iPhone 3.0 to the App Store for review. [...] I'll be posting more details and screen shots to the app's page on Facebook this week

Here's the Facebook page if you want to follow along, and we're guessing a lot of you do based on how many tweeted and sent this our way! (Thanks everyone!)

Yet another "leaked" Apple iTablet "image".

There's no way Steve Jobs lets the home button cut across the bezel like that, right?

App Review: Hurricane Tracking for the iPhone

(Hurricane for iPhone Forum Review by cjvitek For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum Review Index!)

Hurricane [$3.99 - iTunes link] is a hurricane tracking app for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Back when I lived in Florida, hurricanes were a yearly concern. Now that I am in Texas, they don’t play such a prominent role but they are still something to think about. Hurricane is an app designed to try to take away some of that concern.

I have actually had this app for well over 4 months, but I wanted to wait till the middle of hurricane season so I could see it in action. And let me say, the app generally performs very well. The app starts off with a screen where you can select Atlantic or Pacific hurricanes, and then gives you a list of the active storms as well as completed storms. When you click on a storm, you can look at the radar loop, projected path, tracking map, satellite images, and bulletins. All of this allows you to try to keep on top of these potentially devastating storms.

$1000 Japanese Hand-Crafted iPhone Cases Anyone?

$1000 Japanese Hand-Crafted iPhone Cases Anyone?

Would you pay $1000 for a hand-craft, culturally symbolic iPhone case?

Crunchgear says they're intended "to show how Japanese warlords from the Sengoku period would probably use their iPhones if they lived today":

The so-called JAPAN TEXTURE [JP] series consists of a total of five cases with different designs. Created under the supervision of a historian, SoftBank says each case is covered with special lacquer and gold dust. It takes three to four weeks to make one, which kind of explains the price.

UPDATED with Video: iPod touch Leaks Begin! Is This the Third Generation's New Camera?

UPDATE: Video has been posted, check it out after the jump!

ORIGINAL: New images have surfaced purported to be Apple's third generation iPod touch, showing a top, center mounted camera for the presumed-to-be-announced in September product revision.

To catch up, we've heard the new iPod touch would have a camera and mic, and potentially come in at 16GB/32GB/64GB for $199/$299/$399. Now, as to the picture above...

Real? Fake? Really fake? There are certain constants in this Apple 'verse, including spec and image leaks prior to, and in anticipation of, any new Apple event. So either way, we're right on schedule for the rumored September 8th iPod, iTunes, and Music show!

iPhone 3GS: 99% Pure Customer Satisfaction!

With 82% of iPhone 3GS users claiming they're "very satisfied" and 17% claiming they're "somewhat" satisfied, we don't need Leanna to do the math -- that's 99% pure satisfaction according to RBC/IQ and Changewave (via Macrumors).

Apple sold 5.2 million iPhones last quarter, many of which were likely iPhone 3GS -- that's a spectacular satisfaction rating for a spectacularly successful launch.

Apple iTablet Gone Wild: Nerdfights, Molotovs, and iPads, and Assorted Other Craziness

Now that we've got the iPhone, the only thing currently left to fantasize (fetishize?) about seems to be the iTablet, with rumors increasing at an exponential rate -- and maybe bringing more than a little crazy on with them.

iPhone 3GS Camera Pre-Caches Images Before You Take Them?

iPhone 3GS Camera Pre-Caches Images Before You Take Them?

Does the iPhone 3GS camera constantly buffer live video data, in effect pre-caching the images you want before you take them? Birdhouse developer Adam Lisagore thinks so, and says so via his Lonely Sandwich blog:
