Delta Air Lines now automatically links your bags to your app

Delta has updated their Fly Delta app to version 2.6, adding automatic bag tracking. All you have to do is tap the Track My Bags to watch the progress of all bags in your reservation. This update also contains a number of bug fixes.

You can download the update from the App Store now.

I don't really understand this. Why do we need to use technology to provide us with more information than we really need? I've flown internationally enough, and my bags have always made it through each transfer without issue. Why would someone need to waste time and bandwidth tracking them? Maybe it is different flying through the US though. I try not to fly through there.
