Dungeons & Dragons: Arena of War coming soon to iPhone and iPad

The nerdtastic delights of the Dungeons & Dragons universe will soon be coming to the iPhone and iPad in the free-to-play title, Arena of War. Early registrations for the game – which will also be available on Android – over at the official website, will receive an exclusive character upgrade once the game launches later this year.

Arena of War, the first free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons game on mobile, is a thrilling 3D battle role-playing game that takes place in the famous Forgotten Realms.

The teaser trailer looks to give us a good feel for what the game is all about, but honestly, despite all the excitement a full-on D&D game will bring, the free-to-play nature does leave us with a slight cloud of uncertainty hanging over us. After all, Mobage is going to want to monetize, but as yet we don't know how.

Does any of that matter though? After all, it's Dungeons & Dragons, right?

You had me right up until "free to play". No thanks. Die, Freemium.

While I don't like the direction the D&D rules have taken, I still look forward to this.
