Getting 'Error downloading news' on the iMore for iPhone app? Here's what to do!

We've been trying to figure out what's going on with the iMore for iPhone app, but it looks like there's a bug that prevents the news feed - and strangely, only the news feed - from loading for some users, some of the time. It's a nasty bug, and we're still trying to figure it out, but in the meantime, here's how to get around it:

  1. Delete the iMore app
  2. Re-download the iMore app

Yeah, it's the fix-equivelent of asking you to reboot, and it sucks, and we're working feverishly to get a fix in place, but that's the most bullet-proof way to get it working again, for now.

I've noticed that if I tap the "Submit" button, ever so subtly, more than once it tries to submit twice. It did duplicate once, but I'm glad it hasn't more often.

That's funny because I rage-fitted all over the iMore app last week and deleted & reinstalled it. I just figured it was a file corruption on my end. I'm sad to hear [read] it's an ongoing issue. I know it'll get fixed.

Happened to me once. At first, I thought it was because of my sucky internet connection. Did the exact same steps mentioned in the article and voila, iMore app back in action!

I just sent an email about this. I tried re-installing already and that only worked the first time I launched the app, then I got the error again. I'll try it a second time.

I have not gotten that error but I regularly get another. I log into my Mobile Nations account in the settings. I go to comment on an article, it will pop up saying I need to log in. I hit ok, and it brings me to the log in screen, but I am already logged in, and there is not an enter button or anything so I have to back out. I cannot do anything. I need to go to the app settings, log out, log back in and then it will work. Then a few days later it will happen again. Weird, not earth shattering, but I thought I would mention it.

I had that problem until the current version of the app. Haven't seen it again yet.
Last week I started getting the load error on the news feed. Annoying, but deleted and re-downloaded the app and that fixed that.

Thanks for acknowledging it and making a post out of it. For a few days I thought that my phone was the source of the problem but after I redownloaded everything is back to normal. Your not going to find this type of attentiveness at another community that's for sure.
