As much as I love them, these long "trick lists" on Stack Overflow have a problem: they're poorly organized with little narrative describing why you'd want to use a technique. This long homage to the command line is my attempt to remedy that situation.

Terminal is an incredibly powerful tool that the vast majority of Mac users ignore completely. Residing in the Mac's Utility folder, Terminal provides a command line interface for the Mac. Paired with the apps and tools you can use from the command line, you can do some truly remarkable things with it.

Whether you're a longtime Terminal aficionado, or someone who's always been curious to know more, it's well worth a read.
