Tweetbot adds support for Instagram Video. No, seriously!

Gotta love the guys at Tapbots who seem to be able to go from zero to new features in no time flat, even if the new feature just happens to be Instagram Videos which has barely launched and is still, arguably more curiosity than product.

Since Twitter and Instagram haven't been seeing eye-to-eye on media embeds for a while now, Tweetbot continues to enjoy better support for Facebook's photo -- and now sharing -- network than the official Twitter app, and that Insta-gap is only growing. If you're already using Tweetbot, grab the update now. If you haven't tried it yet, you've got one more reason to try it now!

How to disable video auto-play in Instagram for iPhone

If you haven't already heard, Instagram was recently updated to include support for video uploads. Just like Vine, Instagram can auto-play those videos as soon as you scroll past them. For many of us, this feature may be more annoying than it is useful. As it happens, there's a way to disable it. Here's how:

DeepSquare Prints by Static Pixels review: Beautiful prints of your Instagram photos on eco-friendly recycled cardboard

In today's digitally driven world, it's easy to take hundreds, even thousands of photos a month to store on our devices and share through social networks, but many of us rarely get physical prints any more. Now you can bring custom prints back into your home and workspaces with DeepSquare Prints by Static Pixels. These eco-friendly photos are printed directly onto recycled cardboard and look amazing considering they don't use high-quality photo paper (that are also ridden with toxic chemicals). Being cardboard, DeepSquare prints are also eye-catching and resemble canvas standouts.

More than tagging, what I'd love from Instagram is in-network sharing

Yesterday Instagram added tagging to their service, so you can identify friends who are in your photos. Facebook and even Google+ have had this for a while, and it's fine. What I really want, however, is in-network sharing. The ability to share great Instagrams on Instagram.

Instagram, Snapchat, and the difference between $1 billion Facebook bucks vs simply being cloned

Facebook's new, Snapchat-like timed messaging (widely held to be sexting) app, Poke was coded in only 12 days, and part of that code was reportedly written by Facebook's founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg himself. Why is Facekbook telling and/or leaking that backstory? Josh Constine of TechCrunch writes:

Instagram for iPhone updated with new filter and fixed privacy

Less than two weeks after adding the new Willow filters and other tweaks, Instagram for iPhone has added yet another filter called Mayfair. This update was actually available last night caused a bit of an uproar with a misleading privacy toggle. It appeared that private accounts were switched to public, but it turns out that was only a bug and private accounts were actually still private, and a new update today fixes that bug.

Instagram realizes it needs to start making money, decides to do it with your photos and identity

Instagram, the popular online photo filtering, blurring, and sharing community, has changed its terms of service to allow them to share your data with their new owner, Facebook, its affiliates and advertisers, and use your photographs and identity in advertising without your consent, and without any revenue sharing.

Depending on who's take you read, this is either a profound bait-and-switch and betrayal or an obvious reality of online business that anyone with a brain should have seen coming. And, as usual, it's both. It's the proverbial scorpion given a ride across the river, that stings you and leaves you both to drown, because that is its nature and you knew what it was when you picked it up.

iOS 7 wants: Just put the damn filters in Photos.app already

A while back I joked on Twitter that if Apple put filters and tilt shift into the built-in Photos app, I'd never use Instagram again. A lot of people maintain Instagram isn't about the filters or effects, but the community, but frankly there are already way too many communities for me to keep track of, and I'd just as soon make as many as possible as redundant as possible.

Instagram cuts off support for Twitter cards, wants you to go to the website instead.

Instagram, the popular and now Facebook-owned image filtering and sharing app, has cut off support for Twitter's embedded card view. Twitter cards are one of the ways in which Twitter is trying to offer "rich experiences" within timelines for "value added partners", and likely one of the reasons Twitter is trying to choke the life out of third party Twitter clients like Twitterrific and Tweetbot. (Because users of those fine apps don't get pelted with Twitter cards.)

Instagram begins rolling out web profiles for users

Instagram, the extremely popular photo sharing service for iPhones and other mobile devices, has started rolling out web profiles to its users. Previously, the only thing that could be viewed on the web was individual photos, but now entire profiles can be viewed from your favorite desktop (or mobile) browser. The profiles follow the same look and feel of the profile pages on the iPhone app, just on a larger scale.
