New iPad already jailbroken on iOS 5.1

Looks like the new iPad is already well on its way to getting a new jailbreak. The Dev Team has posted a status update on the new iPad, and have in fact already jailbroken is on iOS 5.1 using a few different methods.

  • We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.

  • Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!

  • We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.

While there is no ETA for a jailbreak tool to be released, this should allay fears that the new iPad jailbreak would take as long as the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S jailbreaks took, which involved months and months of work.

Anyone planning on jailbreaking when the new iPad tool is released?

New iPad already jailbroken on iOS 5.1

No I'm staying on team pure. I wonder what iOS 6.0 is gonna be like. I can't find any sites that have posted any good information on substantial features.

In my opinion, there is no need to jailbreak the iPad; in the other hand, iPhone should be jailbroken all the time.

I agree. I love having my iPhone JB'd, but I have found little need to JB my iPad 2. Since most of my JB apps involve SMS or changing system settings, there just isn't a reason for me.

I'm just not a fan off all the wasted space in the UI. I can put six apps in the tray, why can't my springboard be six apps wide too?

Excellent news! Picked up my new iPad rom the store today... I'm sooo not a stock person. Bring on iOS 5.1 JB... Good work Dev-team!

I dont why buy a brand new ipad and jailbreak it? Mine as well buy an android tablet, so u can do what ipad cant do.

Yes, like download all the android phone apps you want... Is there even 1 good reason to go android tab over iPad at this point?

you think an android or an android tablet can something an ipad or iphone can't do? you obviously dont know how to actually use a jailbroken device.

Yes, I'm going to jailbreak, for a few reasons:
1) I'm a sucker for an uncluttered UI. I'm one of those anal people who is driven absolutely insane by not being able to get rid of or hide that damn Newstand app/folder. Infinidock and Infinifolder are fantastic on the iPad as well.
2) I'm also a sucker for the emulators that let you play old Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Genesis games on your iPad using a Wii remote. MAME is pretty great too.
Other than that, I do agree with the above poster that an iPhone jailbreak is much more useful than an iPad jailbreak.

lol buy a $500 tablet and jailbreak it just to make it run like an android. Oh yeah I do have an Ipad and an android tablet and I never jailbrake em or root them , I just like them the way they are , Thats why I have both worlds on my hands. Right back at yah Darkmx2000 ...hehehehhe

An ipad run like an android??? In what world does this happen?? I feel bad and understand android users who simply havent used an ios device but you say you have both and can't see a difference?? Everyone knows that a stock ios device takes a poop on a stock android device every day of the week in terms of sheer functionality. A jailbroken ios device is simply put the most customizable device on the planet and no rooted android device even comes close. Kujo if you own both I suggest you look into jailbreaking your device if for no other reason to experience how much more you can accomplish with it. If you havent before your really missing out. I agree its not for everyone but for anyone that wants to get the most out of their device its highly recommended. Good luck.
P.S. sell your android tablet........

I am note to apple/ios. I just bought an ipad. Can someone tell me if i jailbreak my ipad, will i be able to download files right on to my ipad without having to transfer the file to my ipad with itunes? I have an android phone and I can just download straight to my phone and its somethign that is driving me crazy with my new ipad, besides that I love it. Or does anyone know a different way to be able to do that?

Great issues altogether, you simply received a new reader. What may you recommend in regards to your put up that you just made some days in the past? Any certain?
