iPhone 5c on sale for $27 on contract at Walmart

Starting tomorrow, you'll be able to get a significant discount on either an iPhone 5c or 5s when purchasing from Walmart. Part of a holiday sale, the iPhone 5c, normally starting at $99, will be available for $27 with a new two-year contract. The iPhone 5s will start at $127 on contract, down form $199. Walmart's holiday sale will also include promotions on other Apple products, according to the Los Angeles Times:

The 16 GB iPad mini will be available at its normal price of $299 but will come with a $50 gift card. And finally, Wal-Mart will sell $30 Apple iTunes gift cards for $25.

You will have to activate your phone with either Verizon or AT&T in order to take advantage of the discount. Walmart's sale will run from this Friday, December 13, until December 24.

That is a great deal and very strong incentive for those who want to switch or start with a smartphone.

It's probably just me but I get confused in these ads when they say "iPad mini". I keep thinking it must be the new retina version but then it turns out to be the original.

Do you really think Walmart has decide, "yes even though Walmart sells Sprint phones we're going to forgo selling them at a discount because someone feels that Verizon and AT&T are better networks even though we Walmart make money regardless of the Carrier?"

I'm guessing these are for the 16g models. Any deals like this for the 32g models in either the 5C or 5S?

I wonder how can these companies afford to give out such discounts. Do they just sacrifice a part of their profit? Is it because they'll benefit from it more since more purchases for those devices will be made?
Not really complaining just wondering. Who doesn't like discounts.
